Unwanted memories part II

To truly understand this storyline, you should start at the beginning Dream Castle and read it in order.

Previous part: Unwanted memories part I

As she drifted to sleep, Maritza hoped for a reprieve. She didn't want to relive that life anymore. It had been filled with so much unhappiness. At least the parts she remembered. When she opened her eyes again, she knew it was not granted. She was once again Queen Serenity and the scene unfolding before her was too familiar.

"We have successfully negotiated the marriage of Princess Serenity."

The old man smiled at her, looking genuinely happy. Serenity smiled back. She was happy that they had been successful. From the hints they had dropped, he was going to bring a lot to their kingdom. "I am glad to hear that." She watched them, waiting. Now the council could finally tell her who they had chosen.

"She shall marry Prince Endymion of the Earth."

The blood rushed from her face as her heart skittered to a stop. 'She can't.'

They mistook the reason for her paleness. "Yes, we know that he is older than she is, but it is only about three hundred years difference. That is a paltry sum considering how long they shall both live."

'Where were you about six hundred years ago?' The thought, although intended to be humorous ended up being more of a cry. 'I have to block this... I have to stop this wedding. She can't marry her father.' She pasted on a smile. "I'll inform her of the choice, unless the council wishes to?"

The scene faded as they council told her that she could tell her. Hoping she had woke up, Maritza opened her eyes. A mew of disappointment echoed in her thoughts as she realized that she was still dreaming.

Her steps took her about her room. She was glad there wasn't a carpet. If there had been there would have been a visible groove worn into it. She could hear the voices in the hall. Everyone was talking about how Princess Serenity was going to marry Prince Endymion. There was descension on Earth, a small political group didn't want this marriage. Serenity heartily agreed with them. 'He is going to marry Princess Serenity. Why couldn't he marry Queen Serenity?' She ruthlessly cut off that thought, it wouldn't do to become mired in what ifs.

Stopping by her window she watched the girl she always thought of as Usagi. 'She has been called Serenity for the last hundred years, but she will alway be my little Usagi.' "My Usagi... She is Serenity by vote of the council." A smile dawned on her face as the thoughts and plans started to build. 'It might not be nice for Usagi, but.... ' Her steps took her out of her door. It was time to start the downfall of the current Princess Serenity.

The dream speed through the next three months, which made Maritza happy. She had no wish to relieve that painful time where she plotted the downfall of her only child. When it skidded to halt, she wished she could wake up instead.

Queen Serenity was leaning against a column watching her little girl run off with tears falling from her eyes. She had succeeded. Usagi was no longer Princess Serenity. The council was announcing that evening who the new Princess would be. Serenity didn't really care, she knew all the princesses of Sol would be a fine heir, but she also knew that she wouldn't be able to look them as kindly as she could now. The new Princess Serenity would marry Endymion.

Steps crunched on the gravel walk. Someone had invaded her private garden. Turning slightly, she spotted him and her heart contracted. 'How am I going to be able to make it through this? Seeing him everyday, knowing that he can't be mine.' The look he gave her melted her welcoming smile.

"Why did you do it?" Endymion knew he sounded harsher than he wanted to. 'She still looks the same. Does she miss me as much as I miss her?'

Serenity looked at the ground for a moment. How was she going to tell him? He needed to know. He needed to understand. She couldn't stand it if he despised her. "Usagi..."

His eyes darted around looking for a small rabbit. "Usagi? You have one here?"

Serenity shook her head as she smiled up at him. He hadn't found out the true name of the girl he was arranged to wed. Maybe he wasn't too attached to her. "No. My daughter's name is Usagi."

"You named her Usagi? Why?"

She looked back down at the ground, her voice the barest whisper as her smile fadded. "Because that name reminds me of her father. Of the happy times I spent with him before the council started monitoring my every move."

Endymion felt the shock course through him. Ice cold jealously melted as understanding flooded in. She had not been with someone else, instead a possibility he hadn't entertain was true. The old Princess Serenity was his daughter. 'I almost married my daughter. I ....I....' Rooted to the spot, he stared at the woman that he had never stopped loving. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"What could have you done? The council wouldn't approve our marriage. I tried for years to convince them other wise. If I told you, it would have caused more problems."

"I could have canceled these negotiations. You would never had to hurt her."

Words faded as tears slid down her cheeks. Endymion drew her into is arms as blackness cloaked them.

Princess Minako was name Princess Serenity. Serenity watched as the poor girl suffered. The new Princess Serenity didn't want to marry Endymion. Most of all she didn't want to hurt her best friend, Usagi. Her life, her plans had been shattered by the council's decision.

Even as Serenity leaned against her balcony rail, she fought the slither of joy that was trying to lodge in her heart. Endymion still cared for her. And since Minako didn't care for him, there was a chance for them to get together. 'No! I can't do that. I can't ask him to be unfaithful. I can't....' She knew that if he stayed much longer she would. She had never thought she could plot the down fall of her daughter, especially after working so hard to make sure that she would be acceptable as her heir.

Clutching her fingers about the railing, she watched as Endymion met up with Usagi in the garden. Minako was conveniently missing. She typically was when those two met. 'She is doing it as a favor to Usagi.' She watched as Usagi twirled about looking at the flowers. 'How can I tell her that it will never work? How can I explain that who he really is to her?' Endymion smiled down at Usagi as she laughed merrily. 'She is handling this well. She seems happier now that the mantle of Serenity has been removed from her. Soon her Guardian ceremony will be held and then her senshi training will begin. I wonder what Solar Guardian will claim her?'

Maritza had given up hope that this would be the end just as the alarm clock woke her up. It didn't matter though, she knew how it ended and the images swirled about in her mind. Princess Minako was Serenity for three months before the end came. All the princesses except for Usagi died fighting. Usagi hadn't been trained as a senshi yet. That was to being after the royal wedding. Usagi died after Endymion had done his best to protect his daughter. The last thing she had remembered so far was sending them all to the future.

Splashing water on her face to cut the fog in her brain, she wondered where he was. Her blue eyed man was supposed to be here.
