Okay... how many other themes is this story/Universe (I need a name for it. Help!) going to try and take over. I haven't even finished the last one. There is at least one more chapter in that set. And now it has claimed the ChibiUsa recognizing her parents, another sibling, and another one is ill... Jeez! Thanks Raya!*Fake sarcasm*

The ceremony
An: This story is tied into my "Dream Castle" story line. Minako is Princess Serenity. Here is where it fits into my SilMill timeline
Unwanted memories part II Queen Serenity held Usagi close. The demotion from Princess Serenity had been a hard blow for the girl. 'I can't believe I hurt her this much. That I did this to her.' It didn't help that her reasons had merit, it still hurt both of them. "It will be okay. Now you can finally get your wish. You can become a senshi and help protect the new Princess. You won't have to be the one always pushed behind them and protected."
Usagi sniffled and dredged up a small smile. She needed to show her mom that she was okay. "I wonder who I will get. What Guardians are still out there?" She pulled back slightly to show her mom the smile.
"I think there is Earth, Moon, Ceres, Pallas, Vesta, and Juno. You will probably be picked by Moon, as you are the Princess of the Moon." Serenity's heart warmed at the effort she could see her daughter was putting forth.
A few weeks later Usagi stood before the council, the court, all the senshi except for the outers, and her mother. She noticed the Prince Endymion was there too, hovering between her mother and Princess Serenity. 'It is going to take awhile to get used to calling Minako that. But the council chose it, so I must abide by it.'
She stood on a dais in the center of a multilayered platform. The lowest platform was a triangle with the points representing the outer Guardians of Sol. The middle platform had five points representing the inner Guardians of Sol, and highest platform also had five points. They represented the hidden Guardians, ones that had never been seen even by the oldest noble in the system. No one had any recollection of those Guardians choosing anyone through out the history of the system. Chants from the small clusters of priest and priestesses standing on the points on the multilayer platform filled the quiet room.
Usagi listening to the chants as they swelled in intensity. Closing her eyes, she focused on her heart, listening for the guardian's call. The silence in her heart stretched on.
The six remaining Guardians drifted in the spirit world as the sound of chanting slipped through the silence. Two guardians moved towards the waiting princess. One had hair the color of new leaves, eyes the color of a clear mountain pool. Her fuku skirt was the color of newly turned soil, and the bow matched her hair. The other's fuku was blue with a red bow. She had long silvery blond hair and pale blue eyes.
Earth turned to Moon with her rich green hair flowing out behind her, disbelief written on her face. "She is mine. Her father is from my home."
The brightly glowing girl spun around, her silvered hair falling past her waist even tied up in odangos. "She is the Princess of the Moon. She is mine to claim."
'Is Moon tired of hiding in the darkness? Should I continue to challenge her?' Earth tipped her head slightly to one side as she decided not to give in that easily. "She should be the Princess of the Earth."
Moon shook her head. "No. Her mother is Queen Serenity, and her rank is higher than a prince's. That would make her child the princess of her home, not it's father's."
Earth narrowed her eyes. "But there are no other choices for Earth. There are no Princesses."
Moon's light blue eyes flashed but none of her aggravation showed. "Maybe the Prince will have another daughter?"
"And maybe the Queen will also. One that is strictly of the Moon." Earth couldn't believe she was doing this. She couldn't be standing up to Moon.
Blue eyes bore into blue eyes as the chants filled the space calling them to chose.
Usagi started to worry. She felt nothing. No one was coming for her. No one was choosing her. Tears started to press against the back of her closed eyelids. She was rejected again. She wasn't good enough for this either. Only her training kept her shoulders from sagging in defeat.
Earth took one step closer to her goal.
Moon also moved forward. "Shall we see who reaches her first?"
'She is serious. Is she really....' Earth shook her head slowly as fear settled in her stomach. "You are a hidden senshi. You only come out in times of great need. Is the need so great now?"
A shadow drifted across Moon's eyes. "It is close. They will need all the help they can get."
Earth touched the other ones arm lightly. "If the need is that great, then I will concede to you."
Moon smiled her gratitude as she tried to step onto the dais. An invisible shield stopped her, blocking her from her goal. Turning back to the other guardian, her eyes wide in surprise. "I can't. You try."
Earth walked up to the dais and cautiously stepped on to it. Nothing bared her way. Pale blue eyes met the dark blue ones. Uncertainty filled both.
Moon attempted to step forward again and was once again repulsed. "I know danger, great danger, is coming. I know I will be needed to ward it off. Why can I not ascend?"
Earth looked nonplussed at the leader of all the guardians, the one that reflected all their lights faithfully and supported them with her own inner strength. "Maybe... maybe it is not to be. Maybe the danger is not to be warded off but faced head on?"
Moon clenched her fists by her side. "But... but... it could kill all of you."
Earth lowered her head, her eyes looking deep into her leader's. "We shall do the best we can. Those who are greater than us have decided that."
Moon reached out and placed her hand on the shield between them. Earth placed her hand on the other side. "Take care, my friend."
Earth nodded. Lowering her hand, she walked towards the waiting princess leaving Moon standing there with her hand still pressed against the unseen wall.
The chanting ended. Usagi heard the last note. No one had ever heard the end of the calling chant before. Trembling with disappointment and embarrassment, she wanted to flee. She didn't care if she was supposed to listen to the council's speech about her not being worthy enough for one of the guardians to chose her. She wasn't worthy enough for anything.
Serenity strained towards her daughter. She could tell Usagi was hurting. 'Maybe she was really supposed to be Princess Serenity. But ... but she is good enough for a guardian! I know she is.'
Endymion felt Serenity straining toward the forlorn figure standing in the middle of the room. Something was wrong and both of his girls were hurting. As subtly as possible he brushed Serenity's hand in an attempt to comfort her. Her fingers brushed him back as she stood there lightly trembling, waiting for something to happen.
Guardian Earth walked over to her chosen princess. She could sense her anguish.
Usagi's eyes widened as a soft voice spoke from her heart.
"I am sorry chosen one. I did not mean to make you wait." Earth stepped closer to the girl and asked the ritual question. "Do you accept being chosen by me?"
Usagi cast her thoughts towards the soft gentle voice. 'I do. I accept you as the Guardian of my heart.' Somewhere in the room she could hear a voice speaking. She absently identified it as the council's spokesman. 'Do you accept my heart and form as your shell?'
Earth cast one last glance back at Moon with a sad smile on her face. Her eyes met with Moon's as she sought to make sure this was alright. Moon nodded for her to continue. Returning her nod, she turned back to the princess. "I do."
Serenity watched as Usagi's stood with her eyes closed. The councilor's words were drifting around her daughter, like waves swirling about a rock. Deep inside she knew something was happening. Unconsciously she wrapped her hand about Endymion's. Usagi opened her eyes and looked sightlessly at the spot directly before her. Serenity relaxed. Usagi always did take her own time when something was important, and it seemed that this time was no different than any other.
With her eyes open, Usagi looked at the green haired guardian standing before her. The guardian took both of her hands and they looked into each other's eyes. They both said the next part together, their voices sounding as one. 'Questions have been asked. Questions have been answered. I have been accepted. From now till the end of all, we shall be together as one.'
As the councilor's speech came to a close, the priests and priestesses drifted from their points, their eyes turned away from the unmoving girl. The court and the council left out of the room as quickly as possible, their tongues already wagging. Serenity waited, unmoving. Endymion waited with her, ready to comfort them both. The senshi and Princess Serenity waited, their eyes glued on Usagi, certain that something was happening. Their vigilance was rewarded as the air shimmered in front of her.
Usagi looked at the small wand, a stick really, that appear between them. The dark brown handle glowed slightly as a tiger's-eye stone coalesced at the top. As one they grasped the handle and held in above their heads. "Earth Power! Make Up!"
Brown, green, blue and white showered around her, swirling about her body. The white settled on her torso and her arms, melding into her gloves and suit. The brown skated across her hips and wrapped her legs creating her skirt and mid-calf boots. The blue skimmed along her skirt and boots, leaving a blue trim. The green tied itself into two bows, one on her chest and the other in the small of her back. Finally, a small tiara appeared adorned with a tiger's-eye, the same stone that was in the center of her chest bow.
Serenity face glowed, her happiness bubbling over as she spun towards Endymion. "She did it! I knew she would be chosen. I didn't expect Sailor Earth, but I knew she would be picked."
Endymion glanced back at the Sailor of his home planet. 'My daughter is the protector of my home.' Smiling back at Serenity, he swooped her up into a hug. The world faded into the background when their eyes met. The senshi's and Princess Serenity's cheering broke the spell and they quickly broke apart. Turning they joined the others as they rushed towards the newest senshi.
Sailor Earth watched as her friends ran to greet her in the now empty room. 'Everyone else is gone. The priests, the priestesses, the council, even the court has left. How long did I stand here?' It was all forgotten as she was surrounded by the people she cared for the most. The rest would find out later.
