"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light;
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."

It's the last 2 lines to "The Old Astronomer to His Pupil" by Sarah Williams. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of lying out under the stars, watching the slow dance above me. My grandfather encouraged my interest in both astronomy and poetry; one of the first books he handed me was "Best Loved Poems of the American People", from which that is taken.

I thought about him last night when I was out walking the dog before bed, and several meteors streaked across the sky. He'd have loved it.
