I hear you, about the Dog. One of the reason's I'm iffy on getting a dog, and Grant, as well, is that I know how much time they suck and how unhappy they are if not attended to (much like children!)
The big issue on the dog really is that when we're not home, he's in a cage, which makes us feel bad, and then when we are home, and let him out of the cage, we have to keep one eye on him, because if we're not paying attention to him, he'll do something to get our attention,...like eating a sponge.
