Christmas Ornaments

A really fun side-line that I do during  Christmas season is hand-painted glass ornaments. They allow me to offer a smaller, less expensive item in my booth, plus they do wonders for my drawing skills.I think of it as a sort of yearly "drawing bootcamp"...no erasing possible, plus the added challenge of working on a sphere ( Read more... )

Every time sketchfest comes around I think: "Hey, I should do ornaments for this!" Then, inevitably, I look at my pile of deadline work and wind up not having the time. Someday...

Not at all! I'm trying to talk Sholio into an ornament-painting get- together this week while she's down here..I wish we were all in the same town! I use a combination of sharpies and oil-based paint pens (far,far easier than brushes!), and I only use matte finished ornaments since it holds the ink better than the shiny. Let me know how it gos!
