as promised, here is the long-neglected 4th Edition D&D art post. these are images from the Players Handbook and the Monster Manual (2 of the 3 Core Books for the new edition of D&D, released last June)
i'm mostly used to it. almost without exception, i just don't even look at my work when i run across it.
Tenser's Floating Disk is one of my quiet faves, too. first off, i got to illustrate classic D&Dness-- "omg, i love stuff. and i want more". but also, i just had never run across an illustration of Tenser's Floating Disk before, and i *love* classic spells. i was disproportionately excited that i got assigned this illustration. :)
i was playing a tiefling in one of my groups (but the guy who started running 4E had to back down from DMing because of other demands on his time, so we're back to our previous 3.5 campaign for the moment). in fact, there are *4* tieflings in that campaign. We just decided it would be funny and out of the ordinary.
as for models-- i use someone or something pretty much all of the time, but the majority of the time i don't try to fenagle people outside a pretty small circle, mostly just because it's often easier for me to set up often-somewhat-last-minute shoots with people i am close to and see a lot. that and we've already established a working relationship, which is handy, too.
Yay arts! The trickster's hands and the cool shit on his belt are badass. I also really dig the chick bisecting the skeleton in Overcome. Her expression and extension are awesome. :D
(also, remember that he's the zombie bent backwards towards the viewer that's getting cut down and enflamered in the paladin/zombie piece, plus he's the *dwarf* (ha!) with the crossbow in the huge piece... as well as a skeleton or two from that one. i think i'm most of the skeletons... but at least part of him is the one that's getting bisected. :)
