...evidence gathered from current movies and TV shows reveals that machine guns are the most inefficient weapons imaginable, and if you use them you won't be able to hit the broad side of a barn. Better to emulate the action heroes, who nail their prey with one well-placed shot from a pistol. Just wanted to give you this "reality check."

I remember back in late '87, one of the critics' favorite hash to make about the short-lived TV show Outlaws (about an accidentally time-traveling band of outlaws led by movie veteran Rod Taylor) was that the good guys with their late 19th century six-shooters always outgunned the machine gun-wielding baddies.
