On Saturday night Bob and I watched Get Low, starring Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, and Bill Murray. What a refreshing change of pace, with a quiet but engrossing story, wonderful performances, and beautiful cinematography. Highly recommended!

...evidence gathered from current movies and TV shows reveals that machine guns are the most inefficient weapons imaginable, and if you use them you won't be able to hit the broad side of a barn. Better to emulate the action heroes, who nail their prey with one well-placed shot from a pistol. Just wanted to give you this "reality check."

I know I'm well out of the core demographic for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, but I have to say I found the film (on DVD) to be entertaining and highly imaginative. I could have done with one or two fewer fight scenes, but otherwise I was (surprisingly) engaged from start to finish. I hope Michael Cera is investing his money wisely.

I had to look up some of the less memorable titles in IMDb to be sure, but I think the tally is pretty accurate. Now, at least, it's clear why I edited an anthology called Cinema Spec. :-) I was pretty liberal on the TV series--if I've seen an episode, I checked it off--seen is seen.

In our dotage, Hubby and I have been waiting for movies to come out on DVD rather than seeing them in theaters, so there are probably a couple more we'll see when they're available, such as Twilight.
