Political Quotes ~ Caterpillars ate my Brain

“If the Democrats said we had a war on caterpillars and every mainstream media outlet talked about the fact that Republicans have a war on caterpillars, then we’d have problems with caterpillars. It's a fiction ( Read more... )

I'm just sick of the Repubs attempt to drive us all back into the 19th century. Oh, and did I say drive? Obviously I should have said horse and carriaged us back to the nineteenth century. It will give me great pleasure to be in the voting booth for every election, large and small, national and local, just to pull the lever against these smug, racist, homophobic and misogynist creeps.

Election day can't come fast enough.

What amazes me is that just when we think they have surely learned their lesson about insulting women, they come out with something truly stupid like the caterpillar analogy. Today I noticed several male bloggers, even liberals, thought that women were making too much of this. But then, no one was comparing their gender to the crawling larval stage of an insect. Maybe we should be glad that these immature dolts can't hide their subconscious hatred of women. I realize he was actually slamming the "lamestream media," but the exact analogy was between women and caterpillars, as if we are eating up trees and they need to bring in a crop dusting plane!!!

Yes, I'm a little ticked off. :grumble: Although it was nice to have something to laugh about, since all the rest of the Republican news sucks.

And let me add that I was nauseated to see Romney kissing up to Paul Ryan - ack! - and I honestly hope he chooses Ryan for his running mate. They deserve each other. I am sick unto death from hearing all the bad things in the Ryan budget. He just wants people to live poor and die sick - he's evil.

Rachel Maddow used this picture on her show tonight and I made an icon from it. :) It's perfect, really.

I agree with Suo Gan. What's really going on here is an attempt to roll back all the gains of the twentieth century. As I've said before, I'm a devout Catholic, and it's beyond me how any woman, working person, or member of a minority group could vote for any of these bozos. And - I cannot resist - Alan Rickman played the Caterpillar in the latest version of Alic in Wonderland . He's on our side! Ha!

I know - don't you love it that he was a Caterpillar, too. :) LOL

Much worse things have been said. The caterpillar quote is just another brick in the wall. Some of those tweets are pretty darn funny, though.

Hey, the Wisconsin Primary was Tuesday, so for the first time in my life I voted for a Republican presidential candidate!!! :D (Seriously, everyone else on the ballot was running unopposed, so checking Republican was the only way to get any choice.) I thought I might vote Santorum, just in hope of making Romney flounder a little more, but couldn't bring myself to actually check his name. So I did a just-for-fun throwaway vote for Ron Paul, the candidate I knew the least about and consequently despise the least.

BTW, Did you hear Colbert got another Peabody award, for the SuperPAC stuff he's been doing? Haven't watched the show where he talks about it yet, looking forward to it.

I didn't know that about Colbert! Awesome!

Yes, Santorum lost Wisconsin and may even lose Pennsylvania, but now the Conservatives in Texas are talking about changing their system to winner-take-all and Santorum thinks he can close the gap with Romney. I think it's all pie in the sky, but it shows how desperate Santorum is to be President.

How Republican--change the rules in the middle of the game.

I can't wait for some teepeer to accuse us of having no sense of humor! That was the big complaint about us feminists back in the day, y'know.

I used to be a faithful viewer of HeeHaw, mostly for the music, and then I started to pay attention to the humor. It didn't take me long to realize that 99% was taking digs at women; turned me off fast.

Sadly, that's true about HeeHaw, but at the same time, they made fun of all the men for being stupid and sex-crazed, LOL, and all Southerners for being hayseeds, so everyone was lampooned somehow.

Unbelievably those were the light-hearted days of the Republican Party, when Loretta Lynn could sing "The Pill" or go on The Muppet Show and sing "One's On the Way" and no one was outraged.

You have just got to admire the masterfully dismissive diction and tone of that statement. The skillful reduction of women and their silly issues and objections....Beautifully done.

And just leaving himself wide open for the responses--an opportunity which was clearly and deftly seized by everyone with a gram of intelligence. I laughed aloud at Cutter's perfect riposte and just kept laughing.

The GOP Clown Car keeps rollin' on............

Yes, I really like Cutter - she is sharp. And I hope that Priebus had a terrible weekend - I'm sure he did, LOL. No one will ever forget the caterpillars.
