"BP is putting a new cap on the leaking oil well. It could capture up to 90 percent of the disgusting filth that's spewing from there. And if it works, they're going to try the same thing on Mel Gibson." ~ Craig Ferguson
And completely off-topic...but I just read your rant on the hpn about Snape dying alone in the Shack, and completely agree with you. I thought he should've died in a more public way (of course I didnt want him dead at all, but) so everyone could see....and feel guilty once they found everything out. That's right, I believe in guilting ppl :p lol
Yes, we were talking about whether Snape might die in Gryffindor Tower or somewhere more meaningful than the Shack. And I like your idea of the public death, too. One scenario I thought about before DH was Snape confronting Voldemort and telling him all about Lily and the spying, then being killed by Voldemort in front of a crowd, which now that I think of it would be a parallel to Snape's Worst Memory, and much more meaningful to me.
That would have been much more dramatic than Harry "telling" his story for him. As it is, we get the backstory in chapters like Spinner's End, Dark Lord Ascending, and Prince's Tale, but no grand climax for Snape's character except his death in the Shack. I'm excited to find out how they handled the death in the movies.
I liked that Harry told Voldemort in front of everyone (to show that he easily accepted Snape's feelings for Lily), but I would've liked that everyone (or at least the important characters) saw Snape's intense death, and then hearing about it, the intensity of the feelings would be intense!
Seeing Snape die, even had an emotional impact on Harry, even though Harry didn't know the truth yet. Just seeing this person that he knew for years (good or evil, doesnt matter) die in such a cruel, horrible way by their supposed "master", has a huge impact on people, regardless of you're feelings towards them. I can't properly explain more than that, or I'd just be going on and on, but ya.
Two thoughts: 1. I could not possibly love Roger Ebert more and 2. How I wish Robert Heinlein was still alive because only he could have taken Paul Vasquez and Sarah Palin and transformed them into characters worthy of a twenty-first century Stranger in a Strange Land .
What an awesome idea!!! Maybe someday a writer will do an alternate universe book about "What if Obama had lost the election?" and Sarah can be the main character.
Me too! Who knew that Mel was soooooo screwed up and horrible? It's terrible because I still like some of his movies (Road Warrior, Year of Living Dangerously) but I'm embarrassed to even be a fan of his early work!
Yeah I enjoy his movies too. All the Lethal Weapon movies, The Patriot and Braveheart are some of my all time favorite movies. It's a shame that he has allowed his ego to runaway with him. On top of that I think he is an obvious alcoholic.
He doesn't even look like the same person - his eyes look like nobody is home! But I always think the same thing about poor old Harrison Ford, who seems to be an alcoholic, too, unless he has sobered up recently and I missed it.
Great quotes Rattlesnakeroot. Gibson is just incredible and so is Sarah Palin. Shakespeare, my #@%$. :-D I always thought Snape was going to either kill Voldemort or deal with a terrible blow with his last breath so that Harry could finish him off. After all, Harry was never really that strong a wizard. Expelliarmus was his signature move.
Could Gibson be any funnier? These two deserve each other.
We have pictures of a double rainsbow from my backyard. We did the obligatory shot of my son holding out his palm so it looks like the rainbow starts in his hand. We also saw the Northern Lights for two nights in a row. Not to shabby for a Philadelphia home.

And my daughter and I have laughed ourselves silly the past two days over the Double Rainbow man. It's an instant YouTube classic!
I really need to make some icons about it, I think. ;)
