The State of the Union is...

I was pleasantly surprised by the State of the Union speech last night.

I was sadly unsurprised at the reluctance of the Republicans to show any support for things like, oh, taxing big banks to recoup bailout funds.

I especially liked when he said something to the effect that politicians should stop using wedge issues to create false divisions in the American public and concentrate on doing things that are actually good for people and the country. It was a good speech.

Yes. And that pols shouldn't just be saying no, but trying to work together to solve problems and move the country forward.

I saw a bit of the highlights. I loved that the Republicans didn't know what to do with themselves when he brought up tax cuts. "Hey, Bob? Do we stand up? Or sit down? Or what?"

I love to see them squirm.

I can't decide if they have a bankrupt ideology, or no ideology at all.
