The State of the Union is...
I was pleasantly surprised by the State of the Union speech last night.
I was sadly unsurprised at the reluctance of the Republicans to show any support for things like, oh, taxing big banks to recoup bailout funds.
These are the same people who keep insisting that the American people don't want healthcare reform, so that's why they are balking at it. Assuming that were true, if the American people also want the companies who profited from the bailouts to help repay them (which they do), why not support that, too?
Oh, wait. Rationality and consistency would be required.
