This is for all the fantastic people who have participated in this glorious madness! Read on for detailed gushing. Oh, and a couple of notes on my fic, too. :)
LJ cut this and warn for spoilers, maybe? I'm one of those people who peeks at the end of stories anyway, but others might want this hidden in their flist.
Cas totally cheated and stole a vital part (unspecified, since I know jack about cars). I left it a mystery in the story because it amused me to do so. Also, it means people can put whatever interpretation on it that they want, and don't have to take my word for it. :)
So yes, now that I've finished it, and I'm done crying my eyes out and everything, I thought you did an amazing job. The flashbacks and the way things changed all added up beautifully. You managed to save everybody that I cared about who didn't deserve to die- Victor, Pamela, Jo, Ellen. You saved Dean and Sam's relationship- just strained it a little as Dean turned out to be the one sneaking around. You kept Bobby walking, got rid of Ruby's influence before it was too late, and kept Lillith as a little girl. All wonderful moves. Sam's decline in health was also very well done. There was definitely a feeling of panic- that he was running out of time and couldn't possibly piece things together before he was incapable of doing anything anymore. There was also the reaction of everyone around him as they realized how bad he was getting. Dean broke my heart the way he'd take care of Sam, then sneak around trying to find something to help him. I think you were right to kill off Sam. He sacrifices himself at the end of season 5
( ... )
I deliberately left my "apocalypse" vague, since it's never going to happen, but yeah. Mostly it was bad. Death and destruction.
I am so glad you liked the premise of the story (time-travel fix-its are my favourite, even if I couldn't truly give the story a happy ending for everyone).
Also? I am really flattered that you think my writing is in any way, shape or form comparable to kroki_refur. She's insanely talented. I've read that fic, although I like to tell myself that my story isn't the same as hers at all, except for maybe the fact that Sam is dealing with overlapping timelines (and he didn't go insane in my story, so bonus!).
Thanks for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback! :)
Oh, don't worry, I didn't mean to imply it's the same story. The overlapping timelimes and Sam's difficulties with keeping them apart combined with general awesomeness just reminded me of "Crow". If memory serves right the way Sam was affected and the way he dealt with the knowledge were quite different. Also: different POV, different timeline, different style - different fic. And there was an angel in that story. So angels sending people back in time? Kripke totally stole that from Refur ;p.
And I really need to re-read it, because I'm totally fuzzy on the details.
