I did sort of view this as a "fix-it" fic. I wanted to save as many of the people who died between Seasons 3 and 5 as possible, and it worked out.
Keeping Lilith as a little girl is one of the things I'm most proud of. That little girl was the creepiest thing ever. I know why Show gave her an adult meat suit at the end: you can't show Sam killing a child on network television, even if she *is* possessed by a demon. That being said, Lilith was far scarier as a child than she ever was as the "comely dental hygienist."
I'm glad the sense of panic/urgency came through as Sam's health and sanity declined. That was what I was going for, the sense that he was running out of time to do what he had set out to do.
Dean broke my heart over and over again in this story. It was Sam's POV, and he was often too confused or locked in his own head to really see his brother's anguish and despair. But the fact remains that, in the end, Dean had the bigger sacrifice to make, and had to make the decision solely based on the fact that he has faith in his brother.
I've read all of the gen big bang stories that have been published so far, and yours outshines the lot of them.
