Prompt: Written for spn_summergen, for faithburke's prompt Sam always knew he had a mother right next to him. He never realized she was dead. This story… isn't quite that, but I hope it comes close enough.

*gasp* That ending! Omg. This hurt to read, when the amulet was being burnt I just wanted to curl up and cry. But it was a good hurt, of course, and I loved this. :)
