Prompt: Written for spn_summergen, for faithburke's prompt Sam always knew he had a mother right next to him. He never realized she was dead. This story… isn't quite that, but I hope it comes close enough.

Wow, sweetie, this was amazing! It opens up a host of possible story paths, too. Sam's story breaks my heart and makes me ache for all of them. All I want in the end is for big brother Dean to come swooping to the rescue somehow.

Thanks for talking about the story. I'm so hit and miss here that I missed it the first time around. It's way too god for that to have ever happened. :)

Wow!

I missed this when it went up on summergen (I missed pretty much all of summergen, honestly, 'cause life got super busy) and now I'm kind of glad, because I wouldn't have been able to enjoy it as much if it had been in the middle of the other stories. I always forget my prompts by the time the stories come out, so I'm usually pleasantly surprised.

This is fantastically creepy, and I love it. Great job!

I will confess I was a little worried you hated it. (Okay, a LOT worried, I am neurotic, what can I say?) So I am so pleased to hear that life just got busy and that you did enjoy it when you finally got to it.

I loved the lengths Mary would go to to protect Sam. Is she a vengeful spirit or just a mother who knows what's in store for her sons. I suspected Sam was dead early on, but the reveal at Missouri's was masterful. Dean and John setting things right for Sam (or so they thought) was so in character and fantastically done.

The ending caught me totally by surprise and just slayed me. What a concept. I'd really like to see where it all goes from here.

Thank you so much! I can totally see the potential for a long AU there, but to be honest the thought of trying to write it and figure out the logistics of the new universe horrifies me a little. ;)
