My bank did the same thing when I was only 300 km away, so it's understandable but he should have been more upfront.

Turns out he paid the rest fairly quickly. He will probably be a fine tenant, overall. Way better than my worst fear, anyway.

Yay! :) I figured he might be. The problem is, when banks play these shenanigans, you don't know when it'll be resolved & he probably was trying to avoid looking like a flake.

The hard part (beyond not knowing amything about him: he could have stolen all my stuff and I wouldn't have the first clue where to track him down) was knowing that he didn't necessarily have a job lined up here. I was more than trusting on this tenant. I went mostly on gut instinct.
