first new tenant is already stressful
He wrote he was ok with paying via PayPal. He wrote that he would sign and return his rental agreement in January. Neither happened.
He wanted to move his bed in two weeks early (still hadn't paid or signed agreement). I got sick and hadn't yet cleaned/painted, so that at least was a no brainer.
He wrote that he would come by the house to do the money/agreement/keys transfer on Wednesday. That didn't happen.
Finally, yesterday was the first day of his rental period. He did finally show up....2 hours late. He didn't have the full rent, let alone the deposit. He paid in cash. He did bring his signed rental agreement, but we didn't complete the checklist because he hadn't paid his deposit (the checklist serves as a receipt for his deposit). He claimed the reason was that his bank only allowed him to withdraw $500 and then put a hold on his account when he moved from New Zealand. Possible, but fishy. I'm concerned that he doesn't have the money to stay long.
Oh, and he already asked to use the garage as a staging area for moving his bed in. He said he needed to take apart the frame before bringing it upstairs and didn't want to leave it in the street. Again: possible, but fishy.
Last night, I had stress visions of him stealing all of my stuff and disappearing (since I spent the night at J's house instead of my own).
We're not setting a good precedent, here. Sigh...
