[The instant Narvin entered the common room, he felt the compulsion to decorate. This time, he'd come prepared. He'd stashed in his pockets Otherstide decorations, disks with ancient Gallifreyan symbols. If he must decorate, it would be *Gallifreyan* decorations.

He walked to where Omega was setting up the stable and hung above it a shiny vermilion disk with the Old High Gallifreyan symbol for Time painted on it. He glanced at the stable and the crib and spoke casually.]

Humans do love their heroes born from humble origins.

[Omega smiled.] I think that's true of most species. Helps them to believe they are listened to. It's certainly an interesting… viewpoint. I doubt the gods upon this ship would humble themselves to the point of being their 'flock'.

[He let a soft snort.] Sorry, I… spent a flood as human who was a lapsed Christian. I built a small time portal and invited people to stare into it… I got a positive response. Until the riot, of course.

Yes, I suppose heroes who are willing to walk among their people as equals rather than as rulers or uncaring gods would be less threatening, although I'd think it would spoil the illusion of of being an untouchable protector.

[He cocked his head curiously at the idea of Omega as a human.]

You built a time portal as a human?

But He gets around that by being three people. The Creator or the Father, The Son [He points at the crib.] who identifies and sits at His Right Hand and intercedes for them and the Holy Spirit, the protector. Three separate, but exactly the same.

Yes, I have the blueprints back in my room.

How very thoughtful of you.

I'd fix it, anyway.

Well, you do get a lot of stick for it, can't imagine why you wouldn't appreciate an excuse. Besides, you never use a compass to find your way, so why fix it?

Because it needs mending, of course. [Someone is still a bit sore about being compared to a broken clock.]

[Hey, he's right twice a day! Unless he's a digital 24 hour clock. You're not a digital 24 hour clock, are you, Doctor?] Nonsense! It's not broken, it's simply doesn't conform to majority's opinion of what is 'right'. Are you really going to force the poor thing to conform, now, really, Doctor? [And yes, he's tutting.]

Far more generous than I would have expected, those hypothetical gifts. Color me pleasantly surprised. [And suspicious. Good thing they're all hypothetical.]

Because the Admiral generally engages in hypotethical. What's wrong, Doctor, afraid of a Curly Wurly?

Of course not; don't be so daft.

Nearly chipped a molar on a Picnic once. Those are the ones to watch out for.

The 'Santa' part is really weird. I get that he might be trying to get people to think of others or something, but I really don't see the point in calling the Admiral 'Santa'.

And thank you.

Because Santa is a popular, beloved figure. And the Admiral is anything but.

You're welcome.

Oh, there is a Santa, then? I never heard of him. Is he a Time Lord?

He's a legend born out of a generous human who tended to the poor. St. Nicolas, though the spelling varies.

A field of force? That does sound very exciting.

It's for your protection. A bubble that surrounds you if you're attacked.

Does it make sound when an attacker approaches? [Victor's raionalizing it like that, because he doesn't see how an ordianary bubble of water could offer much protection.]

No, it stops anything from hitting you when you activate it.
