Ooooh, this is lovely! Can I join with a prompt?
I’d like to see a post-reveal Arthur saving Merlin scenario (including canon up to 4x09). Either he has found out about Merlin’s magic already and has banished him and they meet again or he has only just witnessed Merlin doing magic. Feelings of resentment and betrayal are still raging through him, but Merlin has just saved his life and is in danger/badly hurt himself now and needs his help. Arthur is about to turn away, possibly forever, but the friendship/love he feels for Merlin makes him push aside the resentment for the moment and turn back to him. Not everything between them is resolved after this but it’s a start.
I’ve seen similar scenarios in other fanfics (and will post the links in the req thread) but would love to see it with S4!Arthur. :)

I've started to write something to hopefully fill this prompt but: 1) I'm not a fast writer 2) English not being my first language, I'm going to need a beta before posting *hint*

Gwaine went after the bandit with an enraged cry and killed him with a swift blow of his sword. The knight then crouched by Merlin's body. Merlin the sorcerer. Merlin the traitor.
A hundred thoughts were whirling in Arthur's head at once and it felt like it was going to explode. All this time, right under his nose… Merlin had played the bumbling fool, the clumsy and incompetent servant. He had wormed his way into his life, getting him to trust him with things Arthur trusted no one else with. He had confided a lot of important things to Merlin, things he had never told anyone else. Merlin had been at his side in his darkest days. He had even allowed his servant to see him in his weakest moments. He had trusted Merlin to write his speeches, had let him handle his overflowing schedule. He had listened to his advice more times than he cared to admit. He had valued his advice. And all this time, all those years, Merlin had been lying to him, hiding who he really was. A sorcerer, a user of magic. He had even pretended to be his friend and

Brilliant - I love the way that Arthur's so unsure and almost dizzy with conflicting emotions in the shock of the moment and Gwaine isn't. Hopefully once Merlin's recovered enough to talk and Arthur's had enough time to start to think things through rather than just react, the actual explanations will go a little more smoothly.
Also, "...perhaps Gaius was right, maybe that old sorcerer had not tried to kiss his father but had just..." Kiss? Well no wonder Uther had that sudden heart attack just when they thought he was doing better! I mean, we know it's Merlin and he's cute under all that beard, but all he saw was an immensely hairy elderly peasant puckering up and moving in for a snog... XD

*facepalm* I have to blame myself for not re-reading as thoroughly as I should have. And also spending too much time laughing at my beta's typo and NOT correcting it in the end!!! Uther shouldn't have that heart attack, though. After all, he married a troll ;o)
