DO I need to post a Dear Author letter somewhere else, if everything I have to say fits into the optional details box? All my Dear Author letter could say would either be a copy of my requests or 'Look at the optional details'.

This is my first year participating and I was wondering if Yuletide-style treats are a thing?

Is it all right if someone who isn't officially signing up writes a treat-sort-of-thing, will the code allow that? :) Because I can literally only write one of these fandoms, and so I do not feel comfortable asking for anything, but I'm watching the letters to see if a prompt in said fandom turns up and if there's something I can do with it. :)

Under Haven, the tag set shows three characters - Audrey, Lucy and Sarah. On the sign-up form, Sarah seems to be missing in the dropdown box. I was going to check "any" but I don't want Sarah left out.

ETA: I typed in Sarah Vernon and it's showing up on my sign-up. Just not sure it will ever be matched if the tag is broken.

For what it's worth, I don't think that Sarah is a regular tag in AO3 -- no fic about her yet. That might be where the disconnect is. I seem to remember that happening the first year that Yuletide ran out of AO3.

It's a known bug on AO3, that characters sometimes don't show up in the autocomplete (dropdown). The best thing you can do is, go to the tag set and copy her exactly as she is written there into the sign up, the system will recognize her.

If your sign up went through without a complaint by the system and she still shows up, it worked.

My signup went through beautifully, except for a glitch with the West Wing. The nominated characters all show up in the tag set, but when you try to add them to the request/offer they won't autofill and aren't recognised as part of that fandom - so you can't save your whole signup. Right now, I've ended up ticking 'any character', but if there's a fix I'd like to refine a bit!

Thanks in advance for anything you can do to help.

Copy them from tag set into the sign up, the system will recognize them.

That bug has been around for about a year now. About half of the characters in one of my fandoms isn't showing up in autocomplete.

Are offers matched on and/or?

Eg if I request A, B, and C, will I only be matched to someone offering A, B, and C (and required to write them)? Or can I be matchd to someone who offered any combination of A, B, and C?

Matching works as AND for requests and as OR for Offers.

If you request A and B, your potential author has to have offered at least A and B or any to match with you. They could also have offered A, B and C. If they only offered A, they won't match to your request.

If you offer A, B and C, you can be matched to anybody requesting A, B, C, AB, AC, BC, ABC or any. You won't match to someone requesting A, B, C and D; or A and D; or A, B and D. You get the idea.

Are you sure that's how it works?

With the fandoms all smushed together, I just asked for three Marvel characters together, but they're from disparate parts of canon, and the chances of anyone offering all three of them at once is pretty low. Someone would have to offer ALL of them to to be matched with me, not just one? I'd be happy if they wrote any one, really.

It won't let me split my request to ask for two in one place and one in another, it says I can only ask for each fandom once.

Yes, that's how it worked since the introduction of challenges. To the frustration of some Yuletide participants.

To allow the fandom to be requested more than once, there's a setting for challenges, but I'm not sure the mod would like to deal with the potential fallout from removing that restriction, since it would allow people to request the same fandom for all prompts.
