Sign ups for the 2013
rarewomen collection are officially open and will remain open until February 28 at Midnight CST. Assignments will go out a few days later. Please read through the instructions even if you are familiar with AO3. I've provided a few screenshots, but don't hesitate to ask questions if you are confused or if something is acting buggy. I will be out of town and AFK most of the day 2-16 and 2-17, but will be able to help with technical issues after that. Comments are open and public. Please also note
prozacpark's
post about courtesy and dear author letters.
>> A LINK TO THE SIGN UPS << NOTE: Despite any confusion arising in the comments, our matching is set to seek only a single match within any given fandom.
This is the sign up page! Look! How friendly! The note at the top reads "Welcome to the 2013 rarewomen sign ups! This form should be relatively simple and easy to fill out. Most fandoms and characters should auto-generate. If the archive is loading slowly, or if your fandoms/characters do not auto-generate, make sure you are using the correct spelling and formatting as listed in the
2013 rarewomen tag set. (We encourage copy and pasting in that case!)"
Step one is Requests. 3 requests are required, and you may make up to 6.
Here's the request form. The text up top here reads "You must request three unique fandoms and may request up to six. Within each of these, you must request one female character and you can request up to ten. It is recommended that you try to offer at least two characters for each fandom, with the exception of those fandoms with only one female character, for ease of matching."
In the fandom box, begin typing your fandom. A list should pop up up and you can choose your fandom from it. If you don't remember what's is offered in the tag set, you can click the button that says (See 521 options) -- that's 521 fandoms you can choose from! Holy macaroni!
Finish up your request by adding your characters. You can click the box next to Any? or type in up to 10 characters. Be sure and hit Enter / Return after each character so that you see them listed as above. Next, you'll want to link your author to a dear author letter. This doesn't have to be a final draft at this point -- it can be a place holder. But if it is still a place holder when assignments go out, you'll have some grumpy mods who'll poke you with Dear Author Letter sticks. Remember that Optional Details are optional, but they can help your author help write you the best story! I don't think that spelunking and Bunheads really go together. I should probably think about revising this before I submit my sign up!
Once I finish my up-to 6 requests, it's time to make some offers.
The text here reads "You must offer at least three fandoms and can offer up to ten. Within each of these, you must offer one female character (although, it is
recommended that you offer more than that for ease of matching) and can offer up to twenty."
Again, you type in the fandom and hopefully it pops up. If you need a reminder, you can always look at the tag set. You can offer up to 10 ladies per fandom, or again, hit Any. After three offers, there is the option to Add Another Offer, which you can click if you want to, or Submit if you're ready. I recommend scrolling back to the top of the page and re-reading all requests and offers before hitting Submit. You can always edit before sign-ups close, but there is always the chance that things will glitch during an edit...
