it'd be difficult to get him impeached on that, as it was most likely legal. There's a surprising amount of case law in that area. For instance Carter signed an EO granting the AG the right to conduct warrantless electronic surveillance, and Clinton did the same for warrantless searches.
Now, I've been without a tv or internet for ~7 days but I did think I caught a snippet somewhere in a bar with a Barbara Boxer press conference where she said she was pulling together an investigation to see if it was an 'impeachable offense'. Did I hear that wrong? Was that just me being overly excitable? That, to me, would seem to be the first step to calling for an impeachment. (Now I know none of this is going anywhere but it is nice to have a fantasy world.)
I keep making the mistake of watching the news. Between the transit strike undoing all of the econmic repair since 9/11 and well, everything the president does, at night I find myself in a VIOLENT RAGE against everything. Fortunately the Daily Show + Conan always make me feel somewhat better. heh. Yay for the funny people.
Yah, so, I don't know where you get your news (television?) but I've been hearing rumors of a committee to investigate the wiretapping as an impeachable offense since it hit the news...
