Perceptive Cottle is perceptive. I do like him. And it's very telling that Lee couldn't quite get his head around the fact that Gaeta was exercising a certain amount of (passive) agency in the manner of his supposed death...
New Caprica memories promise to be...interesting. But I don't like the sound of 'something different'. I am hoping it's not going to be painful for the poor lad, but something tells me it will be.

Cottle is perceptive. Partly I think because he geniunely likes Felix (I think they had adventures on New Caprica, Cottle sees Felix as a good kid) and also because Cottle is deep down a caring guy - he is as concerned for the mental health of Kara Thrace as he is for Felix.
New Caprica will be different but not super violent in that I've already established that it was at face value similar to the show. (IE Felix wasn't tortured) It should be interesting.

Yeah. Felix's blind spots are well-established; it's interesting to watch you bringing out the fact that Lee has some fairly significant ones of his own.

Now you have made me want to read about these! And seriously, Cottle was in a situation rather similar to Felix's during the Occupation - he should have some empathy based on that alone.

I am looking forward to it...

I continue to adore Cottle. He pushes and pushes, and now will have "to do something different" (very worrisome), all the while, showing great understanding and concern for Gaeta. He's exactly the type of person you want as a doctor heartfelt compassion combined with perception, intelligence, and a willingness to tell the hard truths.
The son of a bitch held his breath until he passed out.I could absolutely see Gaeta doing something like that. He has a lot of character traits I admire (compassion, intelligence, loyalty, courage), but the primary way I see him is that at all filters through this sheer unadulterated stubbornness. If he doesn't want to remember he'll by gods hold his breath ( ... )

He is part of the problem. His complacency is part of why his father was increasingly getting worse - to a point Bill relies on Lee to be "the voice of reason" and Lee has been... off in his own little world. Kara would be better if Lee had been willing to open his eyes sooner to her issues.

I think part of Cottle's own issue ( ... )

Felix is the sort of guy who endures, until he snaps. The whole projected fantasy is full of examples. And Cottle has made the point - felix is most likely going to blow in a self destructive way when he snaps over this... I agree on the suicide issue, obviously, and point out that Dee leading a mutiny against Bill would have justified Bill's emotional devastation in a way that Gaeta - who Bill never especially seemed to care about - did not.
Everyone on New Caprica was, in their own way, suffering and bending to the will of the Cylons. Glad yer enjoying this :D
