too much + not enough = bleh

I don't ever post on LJ. I lurk and write snarky remarks in other peoples' LJ posts. Well, I try to make them helpful and humorous, but I don't always succeed and I guess they sometimes come off as snarky...

So why am I posting on LJ? Because I'm feeling like I'm missing something. It's not a distinct feeling, but merely a vague one that's the ( Read more... )

Good to see you on here, old buddy.

When I left Boston, I just threw all my dusty BMan shit from my container-truck boxes directly into cardboard boxes and shipped them. It's all sitting in storage, still covered in playa dust, and probably will be until I decide I need to sort through it all again next July.

Glad to hear you're in a new space. You'll settle in sooner or later, I'm sure. If the West Coast still beckons in a year's time, you'd always be welcome. Plenty of people to stay with at this point, between me, Blurry, and DDT!

Stay warm out there...

I'm around this weekend, probably just at home hacking code, unless someone wants to distract me, nudge nudge. I'm sorry for all your trouble -- moving is a major chore, and I know the feeling of not going anywhere. Here's hoping you do better soon.

I empathize with you on a lot of this, as BM was a big commitment of time and money for me, even without having to travel as much as I usually do (having only local assignments since June is unheard of for my company!), but on top of that there will be some lateral shifts in rooms at our house that has had me sorting through boxes to get rid of crap and pack up the gems, all the while keeping the rest of the plates spinning. It is never an easy thing to disconnect your social time to organize your personal space, but have come to realize that you have to be disciplined to commit either the small periods of time to maintain things or the large periods of time to get ahead of things if they stack up against you.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. Nice to know that a few people read my LJ... :)

Didn't get a whole lot done today. Started reprocessing my time-lapse video of BMan 2007 and retrofitted my electric razor with a new set of NiMH batteries (after spending 2 hours looking for my soldering iron...) Works like new!

Guess I should get back to sorting papers and boxes, huh?

even when i travel for fun on the weekends, i often come home feeling like i have to scramble to catch up with my life. i'm so much a homebody :) i think it's really hard to balance work travel with social and personal time, unless your travel is regular enough that you can create a routine and social life of sorts at your destination. i do think if you've been travelling, you can defend standard work hours(no overtime), or a couple early evenings the week before and/or after. sometimes hard to do give tight schedules etc, but i think pushing back is important once in a while... you'll be a better worker if you feel balanced. save some energy for home ( ... )
