Episode 224 - Passing the Torch - Part 2

May 07, 2011 11:32

After an actual decent cliffhanger (Seriously, why wasn't THIS the cliffhanger episode instead of the boring one?) the three park Rangers morph (and Tanya gets to say it, which is seriously so awesome) and Adam temporarily defeats the monster by throwing water on himCassie and TJ have come to Kat's rescue and they are so ridiculously awesome, I can ( Read more... )

ship: tj/cassie, mentor ftw, how does ernie make any money, nice arms, consult a map already, kidnapped ranger, centered on: team, season 5: no just no, 2 fish, cave of captivity, random relatives, tommy is always late, tommy is useless, alternate dimension

I freaking Ship TJ and Cassie even harder then you! They are cuteness personified and I love the reaction from Tommy when TJ and Cassie lay the Piranhatrons out with little problem in the cave.

You're right the Turbo team just wasn't working, they felt out of place and disjointed. Did I miss them after the left? Some more then others.

Tommy to TJ - Tommy was so checked out that the change was so good plus I was NEVER a big fan of red ranger Tommy.

Tanya to Ashley - I love them both but I did miss my Adam/Tanya :(

Adam to Carlos - I loved Adam and Carlos took awhile to grow on me.

Katherine to Cassie - Yeah most of you know I was never Kat's biggest fan but she improved into Turbo, still I loved Cassie so much more.

you know all I could think about was that Tommy and kat waited to the last moment to pick a replacement. Adam and Tanya have known Ashley and Carlos for what five episodes. that's time to find out who they are but TJ and Cassie are new and had met them less then 12 hours before...

and didn't Divatox complain earlier about not having a family?

There should really be fic about that and why it took them so long.

I feel like Divatox just makes things up as she goes along.

yeah, maybe their first picks just didn't workout for some reason.

She does, and the fish keep anyone from calling her on it

Yeah, after this episode I was done professionally with Power Rangers for a good decade. Even discarding the way the cast who wanted to remain were dumped unceremoniously, this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They've been rangers for a long time and they get no real closure. The big epic hero endings and storylines are completely passed over to the new guys. Of all the clumsy, awful cast changes, this is the worst, IMO. It's a mark of lazy writers who need an entire cast to start churning out better storylines. And they get no celebration. Tommy has been a ranger for 5 years; Kim and Billy got tributes in the credits when they left. You would think the producers would at least want to celebrate Tommy "Winged Lord of the Skies" Oliver just one last time, but nothing. Even Zordon and Alpha seem more like they're celebrating the new team than saying goodbye to this one ( ... )

I was fairly done with them originally the first time I watched this - I was like "WTF, WHERE IS MY ADAM???" and that may be one of the reasons that I don't like Space as much as the rest of the fandom does.

I wish they'd gotten a better send off. The only one who did get a really great one was Kim.

I am mostly over it now. But still. At least I super love the new team this time around.

It's been YEARS since I've seen the ep, but the Wild West Rangers were technically before MMPR? So if TJ read up on history (um, and if someone recorded the exploits of the Wild West Rangers, and also called them Power Rangers). Mind you, that's a very loose connection, lots of hand waving, but it's not impossible for TJ to want to be a Ranger as a little kid in canon. Unless I'm remembering wrong, which is v. possible.

It was! Time travel is weird, and that's a really good theory that should be explored more in fic. :D
