Title: The Other Side of Us Author: random_nic Rating: PG-13 Disclaimer: ATWT characters are the property of Telenext and CBS. Word Count: 1375 Summary: Lives are changed in the wake of a traumatic event.
I'm so excited to have another chapter of this marvelous story that I will gladly forgive the lack of Noah POV, especially since he's such an important aspect of Reid's thoughts here
( ... )
That seems to be a popular view LOL. I don't know how what I'm writing will stack up to everyone's expectations - and that's all I'm gonna say about that. ;)
I'm glad you see that I'm not trying to present what choice Luke would have made. Rather, what I'm attempting to do is show the other characters' own questions about that. Including Reid, whose confidence in his relationship with Luke has been shaken in the aftermath of Luke's death.
Good to have you back with a chapter of this gripping story, Nic!
Lol I can't imagine Reid standing being kept waiting at the altar at the farm while Luke is off chasing someone else... unless of course that someone is Noah! But I get that feeling of empathy with Molly.
But I can imagine how he would feel that connection to Noah even though they started out on opposite sides, they still have the memory of Luke to bind them together and right now Noah is the only one Reid can count on to keep it real.
Can I see that connection developing into something more? Quite possibly... especially with the way Reid's thoughts are developing here.
Ha, I can't imagine Reid waiting around for anyone at the altar, either. I think the root of such an image popping into his head was more his recognition of the similarity of his position to Molly's. Like Molly, Reid senses he isn't the partner most of Oakdale is rooting for to be with his Snyder. Even Reid isn't infallible, and can experience a moment of doubt that he'll be the one there in the end. With Luke no longer around to remind him of the strength of their connection, he's fallen into comparing it to what he sees of Noah's connection to Luke.
As far as Noah and Reid's own connection... down girl! I promise nothing! ;)
The amazing thing here, and something even Reid hasn't realised, is that Reid suddenly really CARES about what Noah is thinking about him... He obviously does or he wouldn't be giving the Noah/Chris relationship a second thought...

I like Reids thoughts in this chapter. I bet he feels very much like an outsider indeed
