Can you put a little stamp on your caps, like a signature? Something small, and in a corner? That way, they'd have to at least crop it if they wanted to claim it as their own...and that might be too much work, or beyond their capability. Or if they leave it there, you can just point to it as yours.
You mean a watermark, which I do use on my photos from cons & location hunts and seeing SPN filming. But caps are a different thing and I feel watermarking them really limits their usage.
It'd have to be in the middle of the caps somewhere since Instagram crops everything square. Others are suggesting watermarks, too, but I just don't like the idea. An awful lot of work on me for just one bad apple who won't give credit. Seems a little overboard.
Heh, yep. I watermark my photos that I share online, but I don't wanna do that with the caps. It would limit their usage for anyone wanting to use them for fanart and it seems a lot of trouble for one bad apple.
lol, yes. Certainly not the first time I've run into someone like this and it won't be the last. Years ago someone took one of my SPN icons and put it on their Deviant Art site and of course didn't credit me at all. I tried contacting them and it never amounted to anything. So this is just more of the same.
I don't want to friends-lock them. The whole idea is to share the caps with the fandom. That's why I'm also posting my caps to Twitter now so more people will get to see and enjoy them. It's the price of sharing, but I won't let it stop me. Most of the fandom are good eggs and know to give credit.
You really are incredible for doing just that after all your hard work! You are inspiring and unfortunately, your way of thinking is a rarity because I have seen people get really upset over this.
Yes, it is totally and utterly wrong but other than claiming all copy right which WB and the CW can definitely do for screencaps, fanfics, or any other type of fan-creation which would spoil it all for us. I do know of creators of original content who have banned fannish expressions of their works. So I think that as fans we need to be more laid back about it and just hope that people will acknowledge and credit our hard work.
Well, thank you.....I've run into people not crediting my caps and photos for years now, so this is nothing new. And as for getting upset over it....sometimes I do. It all depends on the situation.
I am very aware that we're pretty fortunate that the network is mostly forgiving and allows us to do all that we do with the show. They could easily clamp down on fanworks, etc. and then all the fun would be over. But (I think) they understand that we're not seeking money from what we do and that what we do (fanart, fanfic, vids, etc.) all promote the show and the network. I could be wrong, but that's my thinking on the situation.

Plus it kinda seems unfair for just one person.

Do you want others to notify this person that we know?

Maybe consider putting them under friend-locked posts? I don't know what to say other than give you a big hug!

Just my two cents ;)
I hope that you have a good weekend!
