The Telling of One Billion Ghost Stories (draft) - Part 23

Apr 16, 2008 23:40

A week and a half late on this chapter - oh man, I was not counting on this taking so long. >.> I've had a pretty good run on this story so far, but this chapter kicked my arse - which I was expecting, but not quite on this scale. This would be what happens when you finally get to scenes you've been building towards for pretty much the whole damn ( Read more... )

!!! omg, it's like you hit every single thing I love about HOLiC and Tsubasa all in one: Kurogane being a surly dad to his not!kids, Kurogane in general, Doumeki and Watanuki talking and well. I'm sure you can guess what else :D

I really love how you ended this chapter--so much can be read into it, but it isn't necessary? If that makes any sense at all? In any case it was simply beautiful ♥

Makes perfect sense to me. ^_^ As I said in the comment above, I'm glad the scene with Kurogane stood out too - it took me so much work to get it right that it's hugely relieving to be able to feel like it was worth it. Thanks!

I love you madly right now. I remember reading a few chapters of this the last time I cycled through xxxHOLiC, before it got a speedy scanslation group. (I'm like a fandom butterfly. Actually, more like a kid with ADD) And then I forgot your name and lost track of this story. *facepalm* I found you through friend-of-friend tracing, please don't think I'm creepy.

The first thing I have to say is I read a lot of this in one setting so this is a pretty general review. One thing that I lovelovelove is how tight this story is. I can really tell that you're taking a lot of time with this story. Chaptered stories often end up drifting but this reads like one long continuous story. Things that confused me in earlier chapters are addressed in later chapters and it all ends up making sense. I'm completely boggled, because the thing you call a 'draft' is miles better than a lot of finished stories I've seen ( ... )

Haha, nothing creepy about it, I'm sure we all wind up doing that to track down things we half-remember finding somewhere on LJ. I haven't really been advertising the existence of this story much since I'm still planning to repost it in full when I'm done with the draft version, but I am not the least bit averse to random strangers popping up to leave me nice feedback - believe me. ^_^

Chaptered stories often end up drifting but this reads like one long continuous story. Things that confused me in earlier chapters are addressed in later chapters and it all ends up making sense.A lot of that gradual development was deliberate, so I am pleased that you noticed. *g* I did have a very clear plan for where the story would go and of all the main plot events from way back before I started, and most of what's changed since has just been a matter of filling in the details. But if that hadn't been the case, I probably would never have dared start the story at all - I've never even attempted to write a single story half this long before, and ( ... )

*falls off chair*

ABOUT DAMN TIME! At least this is what my inner Kurogane said. XD

It cracks me up that it's Kurogane that pushes Doumeki to make a move.

Doumeki's reaction to Kohane is pretty much the same as it was in the manga, initially suspicious to anything affecting Watanuki, and then getting dragged into acceptance when he realises he has to share ^^.

The funniest part of this story for me was actually Doumeki's journey to the Compound with the "X" crew - still hilarious.
