...so just to really confuse everyone before I finished up with the flashback chapters, I went and wrote one about how Kurogane met Fye.

Uh, yeah, I think that's about all I can say in introduction to this one this week. >.>

Fai and Kurogane's first meeting! Yea! Short but very, very intresting. It definatly raises questions about why Kurogane knows what he knows and if his interest in the Flowrights was just for their tech skill or if there is more to it then that.

I love Fai's way of phrasing things.
“Recently-former acquaintances of ours,” the man explained mildly. “A shame - they seemed so eager about getting a good technician to work for them at first, but before long I’m afraid some of them started to get some funny ideas in their heads about just what else my Chi might be used for, and we had to make a bit of an unscheduled exit. But a fine young man like you wouldn’t have anything to do with anyone like that, would you?”

The end bit made me smile and squee like the fangirl I am

I admit, I'm very curious as to Fai's take on the same meeting.

Overall, very wonderful. I enjoyed it very much.

Yeah, far more new questions than answers in this chapter, I'm sure. Definitely a very different one for me to write too (though the same goes for all the flashback chapters I've posted), but I'm glad it still went down well with someone. ^_^

I admit, I'm very curious as to Fai's take on the same meeting.

Then I'll have to admit that although I have some definite ideas about what was going on in his head through this, I'm not sure whether that information will ever fit into the story anywhere (unlike Kurogane's side of the story, which is going to be a lot more important). They're important characters, but they're taking a back seat to Doumeki and Watanuki as the leads, so there's less space for development. But we'll see how it all goes. ^^;

You! I see what you did thar! You kept me so distracted with hints of everyone else's backstories that I never realized that Kuro-tan's might be the most intriguing of all! I mean, up until this point, all we've known of him was that he was calm, terrifyingly competent, and level-headed, and that there was someone he'd known in the past named Souma -- and that he didn't want Watanuki listening to her if she was still around ( ... )

(You have no idea how much getting this comment brightened my evening last night. <3 And just when I was stuck on the next part and needed encouragement too.)

<.< Well, maaaaybe a little. ^_~ (In truth, even I had everyone else's backstories largely mentally plotted before one of my RL holic friends went and handed me a few interesting facts that wound up explaining just what Kurogane's was going to be and why it was going to be so important, so it was a bit of a surprise on my end too. *cough* But not an unpleasant one for any of us.) Naturally all shall be revealed in time.

But the real joy of this chapter is Fye's dialogue, in all his playful and erudite glory. (Better than the original, in my opinion -- and gods, I'm finding post-Acid Tokyo a slow slog without Fye's playfullness.) Recently-former acquaintances and unscheduled exits, hallelujah and amen. ^__^ ( ... )

*delurks*

I found some of your Holic fiction on FF.net, and so came to your LJ to read more of your stuff.

Wasn't intending to start this story because it was a 'draft' project, but I'm so glad I did. I couldn't resist commenting anymore cause this chapter was fantastic (as usual) and the Fai/ Kurogane interaction in the last bit, rocked so very much XD

I'm loving this Acid Tokyo story so much, you've done a great job in developing the very environment as a character. CLAMP speeds quickly through worlds, so a lot is left to the imagination - and you just took it and ran with it.

It kinda reminds me of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower", which is a compliment. You've made it a scary place.

I'm loving the characterizations also, and look forward to what's gonna happen. I'm holding out hope for relative happiness...at least everyone gets to keep their limbs, maybe? /dork

^___^
