It sounds a bit weird to be comparing a 2D fighting game to an RPG, but you don’t have to think that hard to come up with a decent list of stuff the Final Fantasy series and Guilty Gear have in common. You’ve got the great plots and characters, the pretty girls in short skirts, the equally pretty guys (sometimes also in skirts), the rampaging ( Read more... )

Thank god I wasn't the only one who noticed! 8D My massive-Vincent-fanboy of a friend gradually came to like Sol (having been the wrong side of indifferent) because of said similarities.

Though looks wise, I still believe Vincent is Testament's long lost twin brother. Oh yes.

Should've known I couldn't be the first person to notice. *g*

My massive-Vincent-fanboy of a friend gradually came to like Sol (having been the wrong side of indifferent) because of said similarities.

This amuses me because (not that I don't still have some of my own leftover Vincent fangirl somewhere) I think some of the differences are what I love about Sol the most.

Though looks wise, I still believe Vincent is Testament's long lost twin brother. Oh yes.

Hm, skinny, long brown hair, have a bit of an effeminate vampire/grim reaper thing going and assorted angsty past stuff about now-deceased females and being made into a monster... yeah, I can easily see that one too.

I've told you how much I love that icon before, right? XD

This icon can NEVER get enough love 8B

See, the main difference with Sol for me is that he's proactive rather than passive. Vincent gets screwed over, he blames himself, angsts a lot, and goes to sleep in a box. Sol gets screwed over, he still kind of blames himself but decides he's going to put all his effort into 'putting things right' and getting even with the guy who screwed him over. They've got pretty similar backgrounds (both of which get screwed over by WRONG GENRE / BADLY THOUGHT OUT SEQUEL-GAMES *still hating on Overture / was bemused by DOC*), but they both have almost totally different ways of dealing with things.

I'm just glad Sol isn't an angsty goth XD;

I would pay money* to see rallamajoop write the fic where Sol is (pretending to be, probably) an angsty goth and Ky finds him and is all preparing for a fight and Sol's like "....my life is a lie" *SIGH* and Ky's like "....who are you and what did you do to So- is that eyeliner?" COME ON

*okay, not really

oh come on! :D I'm totally going to beta another 3 pages in my lunch break and I have good odds of finishing the rest of it tonight. That leaves a slot free, right? ;P You can use half of it for the Sol and Vincent trash a bar fic (or, the Sol trashes a bar while Vincent watches, and then manages to leave him with the bill), and half of it for the Sol pretends to be a goth and Ky is ... at him fic! :D

Nooo, that leaves a slot free for me to start editing the next fic on my almost-but-not-quite-finished list. =P I'm already using one more fic slot than I was meant to be allowed to use to write smut, remember? >.>

More importantly, =D about betaing progress. Does that mean I can expect it in my inbox soon, or will I need to track you down for the hard copy? (At this stage I'm pretty willing to run across town for the later - it's been two months since I last posted GG fic now, and that is clearly too long.)

*grin* It's a pretty impressive list, isn't it? (And if you do ever get hold of a copy of FFVII, believe me, it is well worth a play.)

*cracks up* By gods, it is so true. It's scary how all those parallels just work out. I seriously hadn't realized there were that many.

Too bad the crossover wouldn't contain much actual dialogue--neither of them would TALK. XD

Way back when, I (briefly) had this website called "Separated at Birth" which was all about characters with these sorts of parallels. I've never quite lost the habit of looking for them since. *g*

And both of them even seem to have proven themselves quite capable of just sitting and ignoring everything even when there's a *fight going on practically behind them* if they're not in the mood for it. Yeah, could turn into a bit of a non-event.
