Can anyone explain to me how it makes sense that the game between Boston and Carolina starts at 5 pacific, while the game between Anaheim and Detroit starts at 4 pacific? How does this make sense? Sorry 'bout your boys. As for my Caps, they've been living on the edge all series. They have, what now seems clear, a glaring weakness on defense. Because they couldn't regain possession or clear the Pens away from the net all series. I guess, by game 7, the Caps were just out of juice against a relentless opponent.

It's sad that such a compelling series, and what was a really good season for us, could end with such a thud. And it's also sad for me. I was a huge Caps fan as a kid in the 80s and early 90s, and our perennial playoff thuds kind of beat it out of me until Ovie came to town. And this loss has kind of a familiar ring to it. (Pittsburgh! Again!)

OTOH, this version of the Caps couldn't be more different, flavor-wise from the teams of the 80s. Those teams had awesome defensemen (Langway, Scott Stevens, Larry Murphy, Kevin Hatcher) weak goalies and no playoff scoring punch. This team finally has a goalie and a scorer, and now we've got poo-poo D. Well, they're fun and young, so onward next year!
