jess's computer was BSODing on boot so I checked it out, did a repair/reinstall of the OS and it is running but there has been a longstanding problem that is prolly what led to the windows corruption

When the computer is in one of it's fucked up cycles where it won't boot, do you see any BIOS messages appear on the screen? Stuff like memory tests, etc? Or is the screen completely blank and you there is no indication of any activity? If it's the former then it's possible your hard drive isn't being detected by BIOS so no boot device is available. If it's the latter then who knows... listen for any beep patterns that might indicate bad memory or bad video card. My wife's piece of shit computer does the same thing and it's a mystery to me. Total piece of shit!! The two foot drop test does wonders.
nothing appears on the screen when you first hit the poer- that is the weird thing- it works when you reset it, but not when it first powers on, once you reset it you can boot fine it goes through the mem check and you can go into the bios and everything- the memory and drive check out, no beeps- I am thinking that it is either something hooked weird on the board w/the power button, but I haven't cracked it yet to see or it isn't recognizing the video card when it first boots... I would think maybe power, but with one drive and an nvidia 8500 it shouldn't draw more than the 550 watt that's in there- mine is running fine on a 550 and though I have a lower draw on the cpu I have a more powerful video card and 4 drives internal
