jess's computer was BSODing on boot so I checked it out, did a repair/reinstall of the OS and it is running but there has been a longstanding problem that is prolly what led to the windows corruption-
when the machine first powers on I can't tell if the video card is hanging or the machine is hanging and as a result the display does not come on at which point if you do a reset the machine boots normally as it should. I can't tell if the HD is running at that point (I don't think it is or at least it doesn't sound like it). This morning after repairing the installation I flashed the BIOS to the latest, updated the video drivers and did a full windows update to see if it solved the problem, but so far I have had no luck. I haven't popped it open yet to see if there is some stupidity in the wiring that I did when I built it- but I figure that if need be I can check that out later.
Anyone know what other issue it might be?
