What you do with decorations, gifts, and such is you shop in the "after holiday" sales one year, but that means you have to do less that particular holiday. For example, we really wanted a fancy tree skirt, matching garlands and ornaments, a pretty wreath, and some pretty matching stockings. So this year we used all our old, hand-me-down/freecycled stuff and went shopping in the after Christmas sales. I can't wait to decorate next year with all the cute stuff we bought, and all more than half off too!

We also found some cool gifts on sale too for next year. I even got a couple of "Baby's First Christmas" items on sale. I am all for shopping after the holiday! - MEJ
