I think he woulda been a claw. Just the impression I get.

I see him as being quite reserved, and very academic. A sort of mathematical genius...maybe prone to bouts of insanity :P

Yeah, I see him as a Ravenclaw too - that's the way I've written him, strong Claw characteristics. I see him as an introvert too, quite shy; and he is the Muggle equivalent of a calculus professor so as you say - mathematical genius... bound to be at least a tad eccentric, right? Heh.

I didn't think I'd enjoy writing the way he and Sinistra react to one another so much.

Nope. In JKR's sketches of the teachers she has a female or male symbol next to their names and Septima Vector - Arichmancy - had a male symbol next to it.

weird. cos i came across this... http://www.hp-lexicon.org/about/sources/jkr.com/jkr-com-trans-jottings1.html which states otherwise. i also thought vector was mentioned as being a 'her' in the books.

damn, now i'm really confused.

Yeah, I, too, thought Vector was a girl.
