Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta. It's the book I've read more times than any other. I love it.

BEST. BOOK. EVER. apparently Melina Marchetta is being published in like all sorts of countries (US, UK, Europe) and her books are available off their amazon.com sites so HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET EVERYONE TO READ THIS ONE! Cause I feel like it's a must read!

Oh I know what you mean. We're getting authors from all over the place here so why should Aussie authors not be given the same treatment!
Have you seen Finnikin of the Rock yet? It's Melina Marchetta's new book and it's so awesome! Although it's a fantasy one so you probably wouldn't like it =P (I just read!!) but seriously, it's so hard to put down!

Top 5 favourite books: Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R Tolkien and pretty much anything by Charles Bukowski.
Would you be able to read a book a month? Sure thing.
Genres you enjoy reading: Crime/mystery, classics, beat poetry (or just poetry that catches my eye), good teen lit, Um, I don't know. Usually if I'm in Borders I just read the back and first few pages and if it sounds interesting, I'll buy it.
Genres you would be interested in learning about:I'd love to read some cool non-fiction stuff. :)
Genres you know you would never enjoy: I'm not too big on fantasy or series'. I don't mind 'real life' stuff with fantasy aspects, but fantasy can be a bit 'full on' sometimes and I've unfortunately read a lot of bad fantasy books. Same kind of goes for sci-fi. But, most of the time, I'll give them a shot.

Jess and I went into Boarders the other day and NICK AND NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST was there, but she couldn't buy it cause I've already ordered + paid for a copy for her so she has to wait longer!
The movies coming out in January (here in aus) so I will totally suggest making that a book for december so that all us aussies can read it before it comes out!

lol another person who doesn't enjoy fantasy ... which is totally ok cause I love almost every genre there is! I've totally been reading so much fantasy/sci-fi this semester for uni (a whole course on it) so I'm over it right now!

I'm so excited about it too (and using it as a way of procrastination which isn't good so I'm going back to writing which I think ... from reading your entry ... that you should too!)

Top 5 favourite books: The Princess Diaries 1, 3, 6, 8 & The Sweet Valley Junior High series.
Would you be able to read a book a month? Hell yes.
Genres you enjoy reading: Romantic, romantic comedies, easy-to-read/light books.
Genres you would be interested in learning about: Kind of the 'older' styles.
Genres you know you would never enjoy: Horror, mystery etc. I don't like scary books. I think it's part of the reason I haven't finished Twilight.
Are you easily able to find books where you live or do you have difficulty finding books: Easy peasy.
Would you be able to lead/enjoy leading a discussion for a book: Probably not. I prefer to participate in somebody elses discussion.
What book would you recommend members of the book club read: THE PRINCESS DIARIES SERIES BY MEG CABOT.
Anything else? <3

What a lovely idea! :)

Name/Age/Location: Chantelle, 19, Toronto
Top 5 favourite books: Rebecca (Daphne Du Marier), The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde), the Harry Potter series (JK Rowling), Hamlet (Shakespeare)
Would you be able to read a book a month? I'd be able to read a book a week! :p
Genres you enjoy reading: I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to the classics. I have a thing for either long, difficult books about society or philosophy, or pretty, neat short stories/vignettes with an emotional focus. Really, I like anything that's well-written.
Genres you would be interested in learning about: It'd be good to brush up on my poetry. And I could stand to delve a little deeper in Russian and Japanese literature... ;)
Genres you know you would never enjoy: I hate sexy-vampire-novels with a passion, and (believe it or not) that actually came before Twatlight!
Are you easily able to find books where you live or do you have difficulty finding books: Very easily.

Top 5 favourite books: Only five?! Ok, The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, Watership Down by Richard Adams, Prelude to Christopher by Elanor Dark & Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder.
Would you be able to read a book a month? Definitely. (Of course it will be at the expense of my uni work, but clearly reading is far more important!)
Genres you enjoy reading: I enjoy a bit of everything as long as it's well written. I guess I have a bit of a thing for slightly post-modern, emotional focused novels (hence Margaret Atwood & Virginia Woolf) but I find interest in a wide range of genres.
Genres you would be interested in learning about: Classics probably. I haven't read as many of the classics as I'd like. Determined to get Anna Karenina under my belt one of these days!
Genres you know you would never enjoy: Not a genre but I'll tell you right now I have a strong dislike for Jodi Picoult. I think she's completely overrated.

Wait til you've got a decent amount of time to read Sophie's World. It's brilliant but definitely requires full attention! And the bits on philosophy will take you a couple of read throughs to really get. But it's worth it ( ... )

i definitely will :)
the tenth circle never really grabbed me, and i didn't read it all properly.
well i asked this because we were thinking of doing a jodi picoult book for november, most likely my sister's keeper or the pact. but i guess it would be interesting to discuss both sides of it, so would you mind if we did one of them, and would you be happy to discuss why you didn't like it?
