even children get older, I'm getting older too

A few days ago I turned 26 and Z drove us to Cornwall to spend the weekend in a rented house with a lively bunch of people from Ooop Norff and a dog. The house we stayed in was as beautiful - a multi-storey detached building built on the very cliff face, with a long balcony looking out onto the harbour ( Read more... )

Damn it, I love Cornwall. I think they may have spoiled the view with the beach carpark there a little though. Sex with a drill, no, don't go there.

I think so too. Although on the plus side they afforded us at least an hour of entertainment during which we wondered about who would reach the car first - the owners or the tide.

It's still early days but I sort of think i might prefer that to the antics of the next-door neighbour who has taken to shrieking "Noooo, let me go, let me out" a la Mrs. Rochester.

Funnily enough while I was there I kept thinking of The Shipping News even though it's set in the completely different part of the world. But the way the houses were, and those cliffs, and all the Cornish wreckers of times past...

Thank you :)

I'm only sorry I did not find some way of taking the Porno Mermaid back home with me (by which I mean some way that didn't involve paying its inflated price).

Cornwall is excellent, especially if you're not crazy about this whole heat thing, as it was at least 5 degrees cooler than London.

It was ever so pretty, just a bit on the pricey side. I think it's the perfect place to visit if you just want a few days' break - as it's very restful and there's not a great deal of stuff to see except pretty coastline and birds and litle towns.
