My mother could well be an earth goddess judging from the amount of vegetable life that prospers on her balcony, my grandmother's flowers bloom extravagantly as soon as she looks at them, but these gifts lie dormant in my genes and I am the Anti-Gardener ( Read more... )

My mom could only raise a cactus that thrives from neglect. Me, I spit watermelon seeds into a rock pile and three weeks later we have watermelons. I throw an avacodo seed out the back door, next season we have small avacodos. In the front yard I grew cacti, 6 meters away in the back yard I grew 15 foot bananna trees, with bannanas.

I can't grow tame things though, anything in a pot. My best ever was an ivy I grew in my bathroom that eventually took over an entire wall, mirror and all.

I can only plant-parent the wild things.

I only ever tried to grow cress seeds in cotton wool at school, like everyone else in my class. After that, I've just watched other people and was more interested in a plant's latin name or where it might have originated.
But wow! To have these powers, á la jack and the beanstalk - throw a few unwanted seeds behind you and take cover as the ground rumbles and a 50 foot strapping tree bulging with ripe fruit thrusts forth! (Well that's my version)
I think you would be on lots of people's most wanted list. There's a few 3rd world countries we could donate you to, to ensure successful crops. You'd be a deity!
