This is hilarious

The backstory:

Last week G2 launched Operation Clark County to help readers have a say in the American election by writing to undecided voters in the crucial state of Ohio. In the first three days, more than 11,000 people requested addresses. Here is some of the reaction to the project that we received from the US

A few of my favourite response letters )

re Operation Clark County
From what I've heard/read the response from the people that actually received letters was either positive or ambivalent. The vitriolic responses are mainly from the usual rabid Republican sources.

Cheers, amended. :)

Yes, there were some pretty cool non-vitriolic responses on the site as well, but I find the rabid ones much more amusing.

I'd ask you to read the text of Mitropolitan Antoni "On the eternity of torments beyond the grave"

This demands a perusal. But Googling found nothing... :(

It's on a Serb Orthodoxy site, but I'll see if I can translate it for you.

goodness. I hadn't heard of operation clark county, but upon thinking about it i can't say i'm surprised by the responses you posted. at first i found them hilarious, but on reflection they sadden me as well. I agree with your statement: "People who are really reactionary and set in thier ways aren't going to take well to what they perceive as the meddling of others and it will only serve to make them more reactionary and weaken Kerry's position I fear." I don't want it to be this way, but i fear it is. i support people doing a lot to increase voter awareness and increase the percent of americans who vote, but personalized mail is a bit too intrusive, i feel. *sigh* I've already voted (absentee ballot), so at least i'm not anxious on that score. but it is, overall, quite an anxious time.

similarily, i found the hiphop letter and response first hilarious and then saddening. "So flee from that music and those people in it as fast as your legs can carry you. May the Lord give you strength to persevere." right. good grief.*

yes, I agree.. hilarious and saddening, but I prefer to focus on the funny side. Makes things much nicer. If Eastern Europeans were not genetically bred to appreciate black humour the whole nation would have undoubtedly topped itself by now.

Oh no!
Clearly this is a critical situation and there is no time to lose - quick, repent and embrace the Orthodox Church (there's one in Ladbroke Grove)!
