This is one of my favorite Asian dramas ever. Ever ever ever. It's funny and sweet and touching and romantic and the kind of drama you watch with flapping hands and excited EEEEEEEs as you pound your feet in a frenzy. There's het slash, and slashy het, the hero is wonderful and prickly and adorable, the heroine hits people in the face, and everyone is AMAZING. Everything is PERFECT.
Also? There are makeouts. And I don't mean the stunning Asian standard of rubbing your closed lips together, I mean BOW CHIKA WOW WOW and "Oh my god -- roaming hands! And -- and they're against a wall!!! Is that tongue? Oh, oh that is a lot of tongue. BREATHE, YOU GUYS! BEST DRAMA EVER."
The first reason to watch Coffee Prince?
GORGEOUS PEOPLE.
Han Kyul is a wealthy, womanizing hottie who is introduced wet and sudsy and perfectly aware of the glory that is his own taut naked body.
Eun Chan is a karate-chopping tomboy and the breadwinner of her family, used to taking odd jobs to get by. She sees an opportunity at Han Kyul's coffee cafe...
...only, the shop employs coffee princes, so she has to hide her true gender.
Which isn't easy when you look like this, but we all have our crosses to bear.
It helps that everyone's pretty flexible on the hetero masculine thing.
What? You mean you don't splash around semi-nude with your male co-workers?
There is nothing odd here. I mean, that's totally how I treat my boss.
The best thing about their relationship? Unlike other genderbenders, there's no conveniently-timed reveal that suddenly makes the ~icky gay~ okay. In Coffee Prince, when he falls in love with her... it's as a boy.
Handholding! Sleepy cuddles! UST! My-body-covering-yours-as-I-help-you-reach-the-top-shelf! Amazing kiss scenes!

That's right. There's some hardcore genderbending in this one, folks. Eun Chan is a girl pretending to be a guy in love with a man who at one time hired her to be his fake gay lover. Han Kyul manfully struggles with his "homosexuality," not realizing his boyfriend actually makes him straight.
"I look like a guy, right?"
That's Han Kyul's cousin, by the way. Raise your hand if you're surprised there's a love triangle.
The secondary characters enjoy the drama.
Han Kyul is a jerk who woobifies quickly, becoming the kind of scorching hot, filthy rich dork who roams free over Asia looking for plucky love interests.
And he loves his mom! Aww!

My favorite minor character, the hot wafflemaker with a secret past. Who speaks Japanese. And wears black nail polish. Yesssss.
Also worth a mention is Eun Chan's awesomely bitchy little sister, who acknowledges and utilizes what men are good for.
The secondary OTP and Rui/Shizuka of Coffee Prince, which is remarkable both for the lack of the evil "other woman" (I think she was actually relieved to pass Han Kyul to the heroine, so she wouldn't have to deal with him anymore) and the fact I never managed to learn dude's name, so to this day I call him dogboy.
