You know, I think in the subs I saw, the "boyfriend's sexual habits" question had the options translated differently, so she started with "no sex drive" and moved to "slight sex drive." I think that raises some really interesting questions about the translator. D:

I'm up to episode 3 (I think. Maybe 2?) and I'm loving it! Riiko is too cute to be annoyed with and basically everyone is adorable and I want to squeeze them. Hard. ::ogle ogle ogle:: It's like a loin-splosion. It's my first introduction to Mokomichi, and he seems perfectly cast and I'm just like *_* all the time. Mizushima Hiro is a fucking hotass, even when his hair prevents him from looking as attractive as he actually is. Aibu Saki is the prettiest thing and I spend half my time distracted by her shiny bob and dimples. AND THEN THERE'S MAYA MIKI TOO. It's like the drama equivalent of one of those seven layer chocolate cakes with chocolate frosting and chocolate pudding inside.

Night is so loveable, though, I'm very attached to him and that makes me nervous.

If the "boyfriend's sexual habits" question is what's on the screen there, it actually says something like how H (as in hentai) he is. And then the options are "very H", "a little H", "not interested in H" or "hates H". It just doesn't really translate neatly.

Neatly, no, but the sort of "diversion from the norm" translation above is quite different from seeing "hates H" and translating it as "doesn't want to have sex, period." Which one is more accurate, I don't know. . . I know I was kind of "whoa O.o" when I saw it in the drama, that Riiko was considering a boyfriend with no sex drive.

Yeah, it's definitely not the best translation, though I've seen worse. I'm not really clear as to whether "H" means sexual stuff, period, or just things besides "normal" sex, which makes a big difference as to whether you interpret as "no sex drive" or "only pure vanilla sex". Given Night's behavior, though, I don't think she chose "slight sex drive", somehow.

It's funny how a ménage-à-trois is totally not the same thing as a love triangle...

This was a...slightly frustrating and headdesky, but generally fun drama. And I suppose shirtless robots and Mizushima Hiro (and Aibu Saki being adorable) make up for a lot.

I wanted to like this drama so much! I liked the cast and I loved the manga it was based on.

But it ended up not working for me at all -- maybe because it deviated so much from the manga. Where are loads of sex and super-angst, dammit!The reason why I have a much harder going with an average jdrama than an average kdrama is because I think a lot of jdramas aren't very good at being very romantic -- Bollywood movies are good at that, kdramas are good at that, twdramas (when not too wacky) are good at that. But jdramas often seem to have a problem with "swoony" and that's what I love. Now, when they do it, they do it very well (Forbidden Love, Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake, Tatta Hitotsu etc) but most of the time they don't and when you base something on Yuu Watase manga, ability to do romantic swooniness is essential. Nobody reads her for deep thoughts :) I am sure it might have worked fine for me if I didn't read and love the manga, but I did so

I loved everything about ZK, but I do agree. One of my favorite things about kdrama is that they actually build up with the OTP with meltingly romantic moments. Japanese dramas... I don't know, maybe they're too innocent? Maybe it's a time crunch thing, that they can't spend long on pure romance when there's plot to squeeze in? But when I think of kdrama, I can immediately name the "date eps" (the beach scene in CS, the birthday dinner in ToH), whereas in ZK they didn't even have a picnic until the last episode.

I don't blame you for your bitterness though, I feel the same way about the Gokusen drama.

Yeah, it's one of those things where I can perfectly understand why people liked ZK, but it didn't work for me. If I get an Aibu Saki craving, I'll go for an Utahime rewatch, instead

That is actually on my list, because it's an Asano Taeko drama (Last Friends, Innocent Love) and I want to count the cliches I can spot. I already know the ending, so that's three down...

I started watching this, but I lost somehow interest in it, even though I liked her and the two male charakers.
