I knew the general plot but I never realized it was THIS insane. I am especially amused because Kui is played by Joe Cheng, someone I only know from the It Started With a Kiss drama where he plays the biggest uptight icy robot ever so this is HILARIOUS.
I adore ISWAK like mad, but I fully acknowledge that I can see why people who hate it, hate it.
(Whatever you do, don't check out Summer x Summer with him, btw - it's one of the most awful things known to man).
Joe Cheng, btw, is Number 1 on my "Asian drama celebrity who is most likely gay" list - some time ago his private diary entries surfaced and there was an awful lot of stuff in there about how much he likes Mike He :D
I saw part of the first episode and it was so bogglingly awful I had to stop. Everything else I've heard (how unfeminist it is, etc) only makes me steer further clear.
"Asian drama celebrity who is most likely gay"
HAHAHAHA. NO WONDER THIS ROLE LOOKED SO EFFORTLESS.
Ah, The Rose!! BEST SHOW EVER. EEEVVVEEERRR! Though I so wanted Kui and Bai He OTP. Stupid incest.
I think Joe's hair is possibly the most magnificent, glorious man-hair I've ever seen in my life. It's so pretty, and shiny, and I WANT IT.
I got kinda pissed at how they kept calling Ella ugly and fat. Like, hello Taiwan, Ella is neither ugly, NOR fat.
But regardless, yay for the picspam! The Rose definitely needs more love... And you finished it so fast! I started it months ago, and am STILL watching it!
(Did Ah Wei's blue contacts bother you too? Like, Ah Wei IS half white (he denies it, but I CAN TELL), but the blue contacts still looked creepy and fake on him)
Kui had to be the most unlucky secondary guy I've ever seen. He loved BOTH of them and had to watch them fall in love with each other. Did you get to the ep where Jin and BH were kissing in the garden and he was looking on and trying not to cry? a;fkl;sfjlkfskldfjsdf
Stupid incest. There's a special hell for drama writers who make the doomed uncanon couple the most romantic.
Did Ah Wei's blue contacts bother you too?
JESUS YES. They didn't look real at all, it was like looking into a doll's eyes. D:
Oh, I know. Poor guy... Kui really got the shaft there (and sadly, not literally)
Oh God, no I didn't!! Poor Kui!! Ah, I feel like crying for him. I'm still at the parts where Jin thinks he and Bai He are siblings, and is all denying that he loves her...
I hate blue contacts in Asian dramas, they always look so gross. And remind me of Umeda's contacts in Hana Kimi (Umeda kinda scared me, so I have weird scary-gay-puking-medical memories associated with them...)

omg, you wanna know the worst scene of all? (I'm assuming you don't mind spoilers since you shared some with me.) The morning after Jin and BH have sex, they're all sweet and cuddly and adorable together, and then it cuts to Kui ALL ALONE -- alone in the garden, alone in the pool, wandering completely by himself -- musing "I love them, so if they're happy together, that should be considered some kind of happiness for me, right?" Then he thinks about the lost piece of his heart and how he can never get it back. STICK A FUCKING KNIFE IN MY HEART, DRAMA. WTF.

More importantly, this looks like another drama where Ella is surrounded by shirtless men. A++ MY FRIEND
