1. After finishing the second case of Apollo Justice, I can say with no fear of being mistake that the one(s) who localized this game MUST be the one(s) who did Okami. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THAR. And no, it's not my obsession or anything: it is THAT obvious. Every time Klavier opens his mouth. But the icing of the cake was...

Auf Wiedersehen, baby.

ROFL brillant!

I love it!

"In my personal case, it was scary," Fakir glanced at Shigure with a sombre smirk. There was no humor in it. Even the duck sympathized with sad eyes.
XDDD

"Ahiru. I can't believe I'll say this, but thank God Drosselmeyer was not like this man. Can you imagine how it would've been like if his stories were this... erotic romance instead?"
We'd have seen under Mytho's nighties when he was jumping of windows?

Unless Shigure self-inserts as Mytho to pimp the ladies second-season-style, I doubt it XD If Shigure had written the Princess Tutu plot, there'd be shorter uniform miniskirts (and they were short already), more panty shots, and the tutu tights would be so see-through you could actually see nipples and genitalia on the female dancers -defying a couple of magical girl anime rules in the process.

Also, any scene with Kraehe badtouching Mytho in a sea of raven feathers would immediately turn into a full-fledged smutty scene :D

Right! Not to mention the Kraehe/Tutu bondage scenes...

Considering it IS Shigure, with his schoolgirl uniform kink, we're talking about? There'd be bondage scenes even when they're NOT Kraehe and Tutu XD

I tend to go for A (see: Mei Ling/Tomoyo -don't find Tomoyo that interesting- or Lantis/Hikaru/Eagle. And, of course, Clow/Yuuko.)
I have to write characters in relationship (romantic or not) because I love dialogue. XP

See, I'm all the way around. I love my dialog to the point of not describing enough sometimes, but if I can't enjoy coming up with half of it because I have no fucking clue how the character I dislike/don't understand/don't care about behaves... then it doesn't matter how brilliant the dynamics are, I don't write it. It's usually guaranteed I'll get it all wrong.

Oh, I see.
I choose characters that I do understand, even if I don't care. XP

I just started AJ today. And I mean, I just started it. I finally finished playing through the PW arc. And Phoenix is making me cry already ;.;

I personally write more character-driven works, not relationship (if all my Ace Attorney drabbles this month for 31_days hasn't been obvious). I find that (romantic) relationship can be hard, especially if one half isn't appealing to me. On the other hand, platonic or bad relationship are more fun for me, since I don't feel like I'm stepping outside the character for those.

Of course, sometimes it's the relationship that makes characters interesting, because sometimes they're the kind of characters that need each other to really stand out. Or trying to separate the characters is like trying to separate ingredients in a cake that has already been baked. You can't separate them, or else laws of the universe will be broken.

For my own sanity, I'm on denial and consider AJ to be a Tsubasa-esque canon AU, and that in some parallel world there is a Phoenix who's still an attorney and a non-bitter [insert character] who managed to become a [insert profession]. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to enjoy the prettiness of the Gavin brothers game.

...I think this game is making me shallow.

I should check your drabbles out when I have the time ^^ GS3 left me all wanting to read genfic, and I don't dare to check the fandom out.

Or trying to separate the characters is like trying to separate ingredients in a cake that has already been baked.True! Although I find that in some cases, it's easy to write about said characters in introspection, analyzing their relationship, without having to add the second character(s) talking. (For instance, writing Subaru genfic without him interacting with Seishirou, but still talking/thinking about him.) However, trying to write pairing fic with someone else ignoring the second character ever existed is hard or sometimes just ( ... )

Phoenix is doing the bitter smile thing that Edgeworth does. Feenie doesn't do that. Feenie is not supposed to do bitter smiles. He's supposed to be sarcastic and high-strung. Not smiling bitterly and lazy-eyed. But those brothers are very pretty, I will admit. And yes, this game makes everyone shallow.

AA fandom is a bit...odd, compared to others. There aren't any real pairing wars, simply because the only real relationships in the game are already over when they're introduced, excluding Maggey/Gumshoe, but that doesn't really happen until GS3. So there's a lot of crack pairings, but everyone's polite about them, even if it's pure, pure crack.

Most of my fics are genfic, but spoilery. The only stuff that isn't genfic is my Iris/Phoenix stuff (that's marked by me saying that if I said what character it was it would be a spoiler), because I am a sucker for writing tragic relationships--especially if they're doomed from the start--when they're still happy, but with the edge of reminiscence. Here's the tag link for my AA fic. [/ ( ... )

He so doesn't feel like him at all D: And what's with the weird sense of humor he developed? I'm having troubles to imagine Nick liking jokes, no matter how horrible set-ups and having an enthusiastic daughter could've affected him. It just feels so... odd.

Another exception is the DeLites, who remained married, but apart from them I guess there aren't happy canon couples that stay that way -and they're so minor anyway. But I can imagine the crack pairings should be abundant ^^ Still, I like the friendships and family relationships in this game better than pairings. Ah, a game with "gay lawyer" fame, and I don't do slash and go for the canon and platonic stuff... I clearly choose them well.

*saves link for later :D*

For me, that'd be the whole damn plot, where it's all about the missing other half being missing and trying to get over it.

And considering how most writers are into angst and H/C, one'd expect them to do that kind of plot more often,

2. Just a random question. As fanfic writers/fandom roleplayers, what do you find more stimulating?
a) Exploiting relationships you find interesting, even though you can't get into half of the pair (or both of them) for your life
b) Exploiting characters you find interesting, regardless of relationships (unless it's essential for the fic/RP/characterization in general)
c) Both of them
d) It depends of the case
It depends :D I get attracted to relationships mainly, and it happened that I wasn't that crazy about half the pairing (not both, though). However I also like exploiting characters regardless of relationships in gen fics.

You know, in the few cases I dig a relationship in which one of the halves doesn't call me that much? I find it's usually because of the character I love's reactions or thoughts about the other one (for instance, when I used to ship Kurofay, it was Kurogane who made the ship to me). Then again, I ship in a different fashion than yours ^_^

etrangere February 23 2008, 22:58:44 UTC
Yeah that makes sense to me too. I also have that with non requited love a bit.

We do have a few ships in common even if I get attracted to kinks different from yours :)

*nods* I don't mind including introspection on the A/B relationship when writing genfic or a vignette about A. It's a good way to write A/B without the pain of including and getting B right, and at the same time you can still focus on A's character in a clean way.

Funny enough, now that we were talking about Okami, so far I haven't written direct Amaterasu/Ushiwaka or even them interacting; just one-sided introspection from Waka's POV. Not because I dislike Ammy, because she's adorable, or lack of plotbunnies, but because I'm taking my time to find her mental voice.
