1. After finishing the second case of Apollo Justice, I can say with no fear of being mistake that the one(s) who localized this game MUST be the one(s) who did Okami. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THAR. And no, it's not my obsession or anything: it is THAT obvious. Every time Klavier opens his mouth. But the icing of the cake was...
Auf Wiedersehen, baby.

AA fandom is a bit...odd, compared to others. There aren't any real pairing wars, simply because the only real relationships in the game are already over when they're introduced, excluding Maggey/Gumshoe, but that doesn't really happen until GS3. So there's a lot of crack pairings, but everyone's polite about them, even if it's pure, pure crack.
Most of my fics are genfic, but spoilery. The only stuff that isn't genfic is my Iris/Phoenix stuff (that's marked by me saying that if I said what character it was it would be a spoiler), because I am a sucker for writing tragic relationships--especially if they're doomed from the start--when they're still happy, but with the edge of reminiscence. Here's the tag link for my AA fic. [/shameless pimping]
However, trying to write pairing fic with someone else ignoring the second character ever existed is hard or sometimes just impossible, because the reason you're giving.
It is hard. I don't know how some fanfic writers can pull the "rocks fell" for one half of relationships that are established in the freaking story, and also fail to express that in the fanfic. For me, that'd be the whole damn plot, where it's all about the missing other half being missing and trying to get over it.

Another exception is the DeLites, who remained married, but apart from them I guess there aren't happy canon couples that stay that way -and they're so minor anyway. But I can imagine the crack pairings should be abundant ^^ Still, I like the friendships and family relationships in this game better than pairings. Ah, a game with "gay lawyer" fame, and I don't do slash and go for the canon and platonic stuff... I clearly choose them well.
*saves link for later :D*

And considering how most writers are into angst and H/C, one'd expect them to do that kind of plot more often,
