Took my boys plus one more to a festival/parade in the next town over today. The parade was long but the marching bands were good (for the most part). The festival consisted mostly of flea market type stalls, most of which held little interest for me this year

I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it. LOL And the man who made it was soooo cool. He said he'd read Tolkien for the first time in 1963. For a LoTR nut like me, that's like meeting someone who was actually at Woodstock.

He showed me some photos of the garden at his home. It's one of those "cottage" gardens that mixes herbs with flowers with a vegetable or two thrown in here and there. It all looks on the verge of being overgrown but is actually very well tended. (Just like what you'd expect a Hobbit garden to look like.) There's a low fence around the garden and over the gate is an arch with this exact same thing carved into it. It was so adorably stunning and I decided on the spot that someday I must have one exactly like it. I'm going to call it my Hobbit garden. :D
