LOOKIT!!
Took my boys plus one more to a festival/parade in the next town over today. The parade was long but the marching bands were good (for the most part). The festival consisted mostly of flea market type stalls, most of which held little interest for me this year.
One, however, did catch my eye and I had to stop for a second look. There were gourds that'd been carved with a burning tool, then stained to make the carving stand out. There were also small plaques with a variety of sayings on them. One really caught my eye. It had wonderfully delicate carvings of tree branches with leaves in a style that was comfortably familiar to me. And the words carved on the plaque...
I got my older son's attention and pointed to the plaque and said, "Is that..."
And my older son, bless his book-loving heart said, "SPEAK FRIEND AND ENTER!!!"
Yeah, I had to be the complete nerd and buy it. It now sits on a shelf above my computer.
