Strong Beginnings

Miyabi looked at herself in the mirror - checking everything before she left for Buono’s first rehearsal that day. Cute outfit? Check. Cute hairstyle? Check. Breath? She huffed into her hand and brought her palm closer to inspect her breath. Check. Everything was ready!
She took a deep breath. She didn’t want to admit it but she was really nervous for meeting the other two girls for the band, Buono! Their dear producer, Tsunku, had came in one morning and grabbed Miyabi away from the rest of Berryz and told her she was going to be in a temporary band called Buono!
“For what,” she had asked curiously.
“For the anime, Shugo Chara!” he had said. Miyabi was one not to question him so she didn’t and things progressed from there.
Even though she didn’t really interact with the girls outside of Berryz, Miyabi was confident that she was going to get along with the two other girls Tsunku had told her she was going to perform with. She hoped they were like Berryz, although it would be nice to meet different types of people.

Airi was way too early for the rehearsal. She thought that her train would take longer to get to where she needed to go but, surprisingly, it didn’t take that long at all that day. Her stomach growled as a reminder of what she didn’t do earlier. She placed a hand there.
“Ugh,” she groaned out loud. “I can’t believe I forgot to eat!” She sighed but she didn’t want to leave. What if the other girls had gotten there early? They would’ve been there all by themselves while Airi would’ve been selfishly eating. She sighed once again.
Maybe this studio has a vending machine, she thought as she got up. She peeked outside the door and looked up and down in the hall. They seemed extremely empty at this time of day, although she did spot a coffee machine. Of course, she continued to think, it’s lunchtime.
She grabbed her purse and looked through her change pocket in search of some change. Maybe if there were something in her stomach, rather than nothing at all, her hunger would go away for a little bit.
Once she found enough change she smiled and headed towards the machine. Thankfully, because it was empty, there weren’t any lines. She put in the change and made a curious look and made her selection. It took some time but she was hopeful for some coffee when she saw no cup come out of it.
“Huh?” she said. Then milk started to pour out of it. “No!” she said as she put up her hands. “No! Where’s the cup?” She cried out. She looked all over the place for any other holes for the cup to possibly come out but there wasn’t - just that one hole.
“And that’s all the change I had,” she cried as she heard her stomach growl again.
“Hi!” cried out a voice. The voice surprised Airi that she jumped and turned.
“Oh, hi,” Airi said, she gave the taller girl a smile. “How do you do?” She bowed out of respect for the obvious older girl.
Miyabi gave her a cheeky grin. “I’m fine! Nice to meet you!” She bowed as well though afterwards she put out her hand. Airi was surprised but graciously took it. “Are you here for Buono?”
Airi nodded and Miyabi merely smiled brighter, if it were possible.
”All right!” she said enthusiastically. Airi merely giggled, she thought this girl was adorable!
”Oh, have you eaten yet?” Miyabi suddenly asked. Airi shook her head. “Let’s have lunch, okay? My treat! We’re a bit early anyway so I’m sure it’ll be okay we can eat!”
Miyabi grabbed Airi’s hand slowly and pulled it. Airi nodded and just followed Miyabi. Even though this girl seemed really bold, Airi could tell they were going to be friends.
