Affectionate cats

When I adopted Inky she was very affectionate. She would do her usual kitten thing of dashing at high speed all over the place, but when she wanted to rest she would seek out my lap. Sometimes she would try to share my lap with Chaya. She purred only when she was sleepy, but she did purr ( Read more... )

Maybe it's not that she doesn't like you but more that she prefers men or something like that. Animals are funny like that sometimes. Roy fell in love with our roommate the first time she went into heat. It was really funny because she would snuggle him and purr and rub and stuff. And she thought I was her mommy and knew Juniper best since she lived with just him for the first bit. So yeah, cats are funny creatures sometimes and they have preferences just like people do.

The one time Inky turned to me for cuddles was when we took her to the vet for her one-year checkup. She turned to me and not to Monster. She put her paws around my neck and asked me to hold her. Unfortunately, she had peed herself and was covered with urine at the time, but I held her anyway.

She might have a lot of feral blood. This is going to increasingly be the case with shelter and rescue cats, because in urban areas, people aren't breeding their moggies anymore.

Inky wasn't a shelter kitty or a rescue kitty. Her mama was a housecat, but I don't know what her father was like. I adopted Chaya from a shelter, and she's a very cuddly cat, as was Rosie, who also came from a shelter. But I think Rosie probably had people before she went to the shelter, because she was a very people-friendly kitty. I figure somebody gave her up because of her health problems.
