i remember the special with Cornwell (the author) claiming she solved it with a suspect that was nothing short of ludicrous

Cornwell said it was some artist, Sickert. She thought this because some of his art depicts crime scenes. Uh, hello? Photography was a new and EXPENSIVE technology at the time... so cops used artists to capture what a crime scene looked like. Still do, unless they have this fancy, high-tech computer gear. DUR!

Kelly was really a nutjob... but one in the line of Ted Bundy nutjobs. Not all slobbering and crazed kind of nutjob.
